Head Movements During Sound Localization
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1967Subjects were photographed with a moving-picture camera as they attempted to localize each of 10 sound sources in an anechoic room. High- and low-bandpass thermal noise stimuli of 5-sec duration were used. Changes in angular position of the head (and thus the ears) were measured from the film.

Head Movements While Steering around Bends
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 2012In this study, the determinants of head motions (rotations) when driving around bends were investigated when drivers viewed the scene through a head-mounted display. The scene camera was either fixed or coupled to head motions along 2 or 3 axes of rotation. Eight participants drove around a triangular circuit and the range and speed of head rotations,

This chapter reviews the relationship between ocular motor and cephalomotor systems, summarizing mechanical properties of head and neck tissues, head stability, and the roles of the cervico-ocular reflex (COR), vestibulo-collic reflex (VCR), and cervico-collic reflex. Visual consequences of head translation, and motion parallax,

Head Movement and Morphological Strength
2020In the Principles and Parameters framework of Generative Grammar, the various positions occupied by the verb have been identified as functional heads hosting inflectional material (affixes or features), which may or may not attract the verb. This gave rise to a hypothesis, the Rich Agreement Hypothesis (RAH), according to which the verb has to move to ...

Head Movement in Linguistic Theory
Linguistic Inquiry, 2006In this article, I address the issue of head movement in current linguistic theory. I propose a new view of the nature of heads and head movement that reveals that head movement is totally compliant with the standardly suggested properties of grammar. To do so, I suggest that head movement is not a single syntactic operation, but a combination of two ...

Head Movement and Complex Heads
2002Abstract The topic of this chapter is head movement and the formation of complex heads. Of the syntactic processes and configurations claimed in section 1.4.3 to give rise to complex words, head movement is far more widely recognized than the others.

Head movement control during head-free gaze shifts
2008Humans mostly use combined eye-head movements to shift gaze to a new target. Here, we discuss head motor control during human gaze shifts. We demonstrate that vestibular feedback monitors and guides the head movement on-line. Our results further suggest that cerebellar signals play a role in this on-line control, possibly by contributing to detect ...
