Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Addressing the Mental Health Needs of Older People in Prison: Development of an Initial Programme Theory (IPT) Based on Realist Synthesis

open access: yesMental Health Science
The mental health needs of older people in prison (OPiP) are considerable but remain overlooked. This review aimed to develop an Initial Programme Theory (IPT) to understand how the mental health needs of OPiP can be addressed and how mental health care ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Unlocking the mechanisms of change in the MAMAACT intervention to reduce ethnic disparity in stillbirth and newborns' health: integration of evaluation findings

open access: yesFrontiers in Health Services
Ethnic disparities in stillbirth exist in Europe and suboptimal care due to miscommunication is one contributing cause. The MAMAACT intervention aimed to reduce ethnic disparity in stillbirth and newborns' health through improved management of pregnancy ...

[Realistic evaluation mechanisms in primary health care interventions in rural and marginal urban populationsMecanismos de avaliação realistas em intervenções de atenção primária à saúde em populações rurais e urbanas periféricas].

open access: yesRevista panamericana de salud publica = Pan American journal of public health
Identify mechanisms reported in primary health care (PHC) interventions in rural and marginal urban populations from 1997 to 2019.A scoping review was used to identify the literature. The literature search was conducted using the Medline (PubMed and Ovid), Global Health, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, and Lilacs databases.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Healthcare queueing models. [PDF]

open access: yes
Healthcare systems differ intrinsically from manufacturing systems. As such, they require a distinct modeling approach. In this article, we show how to construct a queueing model of a general class of healthcare systems.
