AI analysis of medical images at scale as a health disparities probe: a feasibility demonstration using chest radiographs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Health disparities (differences in non-genetic conditions that influence health) can be associated with differences in burden of disease by groups within a population. Social determinants of health (SDOH) are domains such as health care access, dietary access, and economics frequently studied for potential association with health disparities ...

Development and Validation of a One‐Dimensional Finite Difference Simulation Scheme for Polymer Laser Powder Bed Fusion with Application to the Effect of the Inter Layer Time

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents an efficient simulation approach for the polymer laser powder bed fusion process polymers process, validated with polyamide 12, polyamide 6, and polyetherketoneketone. It shows that inter layer time affects part density, with 90s yielding dense parts.

Decomposition of Longitudinal Disparities: an Application to the Fetal Growth-Singletons Study [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Addressing health disparities among different demographic groups is a key challenge in public health. Despite many efforts, there is still a gap in understanding how these disparities unfold over time. Our paper focuses on this overlooked longitudinal aspect, which is crucial in both clinical and public health settings.

Development of a Novel Processing Route for Dispersoid/Precipitation‐Strengthened High Conductive Copper Alloys by Using Metalized Nanoceramics in Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores a process chain to produce dispersoid‐strengthened CuCr1Zr for applications requiring high strength and conductivity. Using gas‐atomized powder and copper‐plated alumina nanoparticles, additive manufacturing is performed via powder bed based additive manufacturing with green and red lasers, followed by heat treatment.
