Population of Nonmetallic Inclusions in Liquid High‐Silicon Electrical Steel in Contact With MgO–C Refractories Based on Recyclates and Environmentally Friendly Binders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The formation of nonmetallic inclusions (NMIs) was investigated in this study, carrying out immersion tests for 30 min at a temperature of 1600°C with liquid high‐silicon electrical steel (Si ≈ 3 mass‐%) and different MgO–C refractories. Conventional MgO–C refractories were considered, as well as MgO–C refractories containing MgO–C recyclate and ...

An International Comparison of Health Care Expenditure Determinants [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we estimate a health care demand function for 18 OECD countries for the period 1972-1995. We consider a demand side approach where health expenditure depend on per capita GDP and the relative price of health care.

Dynamic Testing of Cold Gas Sprayed Bipolar Plates–Porous Transport Layer Coating System in Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Through direct application of porous transport layer (PTL) on the bipolar plate (BPP) with thermal spraying, the interfacial contact resistance is improved. With the cold gas sprayed BPP–PTL coating system, a proton exchange membrane water electrolysis cell with a cell voltage of Ucell = 1.9 V can be operated up to i = 2.5 A/cm2 in a dynamic mode ...

Dynamic Inefficiencies in Employment-Based Health Insurance System Theory and Evidence [PDF]

open access: yes
We investigate how the employment-based health insurance system in the U.S. affects individuals' life-cycle health-care decisions. We take the viewpoint that health is a form of human capital that affects workers' productivities on the job, and derive ...

Factors Shaping Expenditure on Food-Away-from-Home in Irish and UK Households [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
End of project reportFactors influencing consumer spending in two sectors of the food-away-from-home (FAFH) market (quick-service e.g. takeaways, and full-service e.g. restaurants) were analysed using national household expenditure survey data. Different

Corrosion and Process Analysis of a Preoxidized MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode in Laboratory‐Scale Na‐Cryolite Molten Salt Electrolysis of Aluminum at 1000°C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
EDX elemental map of the pre‐oxidized MgO–steel cermet anode cross section after electrolysis. The development of inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis remains challenging due to the high corrosivity of cryolite‐based melts at 950°C–1000°C. This study investigates the corrosion and process behavior of a carbon‐free MgO–steel cermet anode derived from ...

Health Expenditure, Poverty and Economic Development in Latin America 2000-2005 [PDF]

open access: yes
Two of the main problems of many Latin American countries are poverty and low levels of expenditure on health. In many countries there has been little progress in this regard due to the lack of resources, and thus it is important to focus on the main ...

Raman Spectroscopic Identification of Oxide Phases in a Corroded MgO–Steel Composite Anode Used in Aluminum Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Micro‐Raman spectroscopy is applied to characterize corrosion products in a recycled‐based MgO–316L steel composite anode after molten salt electrolysis. A depth‐dependent Fe–O/Fe–Al–O layer sequence of magnetite, hercynite, and an Al‐doped magnetite transition zone is identified.

Cost-containment in health care: The case of Spain from the eighties up to 1997 [PDF]

open access: yes
The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the evolution of health care expenditure in Spain during the period 1980-1997, and henceforth to comment on the cost containment measures put forward to control its growth.
