A Case Study Exploration of Adolescents’ Experiences in a Paid Summer Internship Program

open access: yesThe Career Development Quarterly, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Adolescence is a critical time for career exploration, and internships are a common tool to promote career development. Yet, few researchers have examined their impact on participants. In this study, we conducted a qualitative case study with adolescent participants (N = 19) in the City of Charlotte's Mayor's Youth Employment Program (MYEP), a

Tuning the Transparency and Exciton Transition of D‐π‐A‐π‐D Type Small Molecules

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Literature‐based molecule preselection has been combined with TDDFT calculations to enhance the discovery of transparent organic small molecules. 54 candidates featuring a D‐π‐A‐π‐D architecture were identified, and 24 molecules were selected for synthesis based on their favorable transparency. Among them, 6 molecules exhibit broad optical windows with

Efficient and model‐agnostic parameter estimation under privacy‐preserving post‐randomization data

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract Balancing data privacy with public access is critical for sensitive datasets. However, even after de‐identification, the data are still vulnerable to, for example, inference attacks (by matching some keywords with external datasets). Statistical disclosure control (SDC) methods offer additional protection, and the post‐randomization method ...

A Short Peptide Inhibitor of Measles Virus Fusion Protein that Exhibits Passive Membrane Permeability

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
Fusion inhibitor peptide (FIP) is a known small peptide capable of inhibiting measles virus infection. In this study, hydrogen‐to‐fluorine substitution is employed to derivatize FIP, leading to the discovery of a FIP derivative with enhanced inhibitory activity and passive membrane permeability.

eChem: Accelerated Method Development in Quantum Chemistry with Notebooks

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, EarlyView.
The benefits of using Jupyter Notebooks to simplify and accelerate scientific code development are demonstrated using the practical example of the analytical molecular Hessian. The eChem project has been previously presented as an interactive platform for quantum and computational chemistry education [J. Chem. Educ. 100, 1664–1671].
