FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

The immunological interface: dendritic cells as key regulators in metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects nearly one‐third of the global population and poses a significant risk of progression to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Here, we discuss the roles of hepatic dendritic cell subtypes in MASLD, highlighting their distinct contributions to disease initiation and progression, and their ...

Precision Medicine for the Population-The Hope and Hype of Public Health Genomics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Public health is the most recent of the biomedical sciences to be seduced by the trendy moniker "precision." Advocates for "precision public health" (PPH) call for a data-driven, computational approach to public health, leveraging swaths of genomic "big data" to inform public health decision-making. Yet, like precision medicine, PPH oversells the value

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

Unlocking the Power of Health Datasets and Registries: The Need for Urgent Institutional and National Ownership and Governance Regulations for Research Advancement [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nature and Science of Medicine 2023, Volume 6, Issue 3, 2023
Health datasets have immense potential to drive research advancements and improve healthcare outcomes. However, realizing this potential requires careful consideration of governance and ownership frameworks. This article explores the importance of nurturing governance and ownership models that facilitate responsible and ethical use of health datasets ...

Diphthamide synthesis is linked to the eEF2‐client chaperone machinery

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The diphthamide modification of eukaryotic translation elongation factor 2 (eEF2) is important for accurate protein synthesis. We addressed the potential coordination of de novo eEF2 synthesis with simultaneous or subsequent diphthamide modification. Our work reveals that the co‐chaperones Hgh1 and Cpr7, which are known to support folding of nascent ...
