Neonatal ketone body elevation regulates postnatal heart development by promoting cardiomyocyte mitochondrial maturation and metabolic reprogramming

open access: yesCell Discovery, 2022
Neonatal heart undergoes metabolic conversion and cell cycle arrest preparing for the increased workload during adulthood. Herein, we report that neonatal ketone body elevation is a critical regulatory factor for postnatal heart development.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Blood distribution during cardiac arrest induced by hypothermia

open access: yes, 1961
Blood volumes with simultaneous blood- and red cell-distribution measurements were determined by the Cr51 technique in four groups of rats. In splenectomized and nonsplenectomized animals, blood volume of the whole body, lung, spleen, liver, kidney ...

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Hypoxia-induced signaling in angiogenesis : role of mTOR, HIF and Angiotensin II [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This thesis includes the work of four different projects I have been following during my time as a PhD student; (1) the characterization of mTOR-associated signaling and endothelial cell proliferation in response to hypoxia, and (2) identification of ...

Bradyarrhythmic Cardiac Arrest—A Rare Manifestation of Fexofenadine Cardiotoxicity

open access: yesIndian Journal of Clinical Cardiology, 2021
A 66-year-old diabetic, hypertensive, and hypothyroid female presented in the emergency department with cardiac arrest, for which cardiopulmonary resuscitation was immediately initiated. She had been on oral fexofenadine for 36 h prior to the event. Post

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

Comparative transcriptomics of salinomycin molecular toxicity in chicken and turkey

open access: yesScientific Reports
Salinomycin (Sal) is an antiparasitic agent used in veterinary medicine and is characterized by low therapeutic index and high toxicity. Among poultry, chickens are resistant to Sal toxicity, but turkeys are considered susceptible.

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Chemokine-induced secretion of gelatinase B in primary human monocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Chemokines help control normal leukocyte trafficking as well as their infiltration into tissues during acute and chronic inflammation. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) help support the extravasation and infiltration of leukocytes through limited ...
