Association between Cardiac Auscultation and Echocardiographic Findings in Warmblood Horses

open access: yesAnimals, 2021
Heart murmurs are detected frequently when auscultating horses and certain murmurs can usually be linked to specific valvular regurgitations. Limited information exists about the accuracy of these broad rules in warmblood horses and the influence of ...

Improving the neonatal mask ventilation skills of non‐airway experts using the “Five Breath Method”: A simulation study

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
The most effective action in neonatal resuscitation is ventilation. A novel algorithm for mask ventilation, the “Five Breath Method”, incorporates steps that an airway expert would use, from least to most invasive. Training in the “Five Breath Method” leads to immediate improvement in mask ventilation and retention of this skill.

Assessment of Double Outlet Left Ventricle in Pediatrics Using Transthoracic Echocardiography and Computed Tomographic Angiography

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
The clinical manifestation of DOLV was atypical. TTE has a relatively high diagnostic accuracy for DOLV in pediatric, which is very valuable for its early detection. ABSTRACT Double outlet left ventricle (DOLV) is a rare congenital cardiac anomaly in which both great arteries originate entirely or predominantly from the morphologic left ventricle.

Phonocardiographic Sensing using Deep Learning for Abnormal Heartbeat Detection [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Sensors Journal 2018, 2018
Cardiac auscultation involves expert interpretation of abnormalities in heart sounds using stethoscope. Deep learning based cardiac auscultation is of significant interest to the healthcare community as it can help reducing the burden of manual auscultation with automated detection of abnormal heartbeats.
