Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

CONGENITAL HEART DEFECTS

Congenital heart defects (CHDs) represent one of the most common congenital anomalies worldwide, affecting approximately 1% of live births. They range from simple defects, such as atrial septal defects, to complex malformations like tetralogy of Fallot and hypoplastic left heart syndrome.

Congenital Heart Defects

1981
The symbolism associated with the heart in human thought and literature suggests that its function and its impairment will have psychological meaning that transcends the physiological. The heart has variously been seen as the seat of the emotions and the situs of the self. Aristotle thought of the brain as the cooling system for the heart.

Vrachebnoe delo, 1991
The authors revealed heart failure in 7 of 216 patients with gout. Two of them showed isolated mitral valve insufficiency and two patients aortal insufficiency while combined aortal disease, combination of mitral and aortal insufficiency and combined mitral valve disease with aortal insufficiency occurred each in 1 patient.

[Minor heart defects].

Klinicheskaia meditsina, 2002
Minor anomalies of the heart are morphological changes of the structure and cause functional cardiovascular disorders. Polyorganic disorders and phenotype are indicated typical for congenital defects of the connective tissue. The opinions on mechanisms of development of pathological symptom complexes in minor anomalies of the heart vary.

[Atherosclerotic heart defects].

Kardiologiia, 1994
Clinical, echocardiographic, Doppler echocardiographic, electro- and phonocardiographic studies were performed in 31 patients with cardiac atherosclerotic lesions (aortic in 17 patients, aortomitral in 10, mitral in 4) and in 20 patients matched for age, sex, and underlying abnormality, but without cardiac disease.
