Functional tests in patients with ischemic heart disease
Lately, easier and shorter tests have been used in the functional evaluation of cardiac patients. Among these, walking speed (WS) and Timed Up and Go (TUG) tests are associated with all-cause mortality, mainly cardiovascular and the rate of re-hospitalization, especially in the elderly population.

QT dispersion and P wave dispersion in schizophrenia
BACKGROUND: The difference between maximum QT (QTmax) and minimum (QTmin) on electrocardiography (ECG) is known as QT dispersion (QTd). An increase in QTd carries the risk of ventricular arrhythmia and subsequent death.

Protective effect of dexmedetomidine against myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in rabbits [PDF]
Purpose: To investigate the influence of dexmedetomidine on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in rabbits. Methods: Twenty-four New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into two equal-sized groups: IRI group (group IR) and ...

THE QUEST OF A HEART FUNCTION TEST [PDF]
Early in the war, Sir James Mackenzie 1 proposed that in the examination of the hearts of applicants for military service more stress be laid on how the heart responds to effort. He says that if the applicant can undergo severe bodily exertion without distress, it is fairly safe to assume that any irregularity or systolic murmur present is without ...

Optimal cutoff values for physical function tests in elderly patients with heart failure
Six-minute walk distance (6MWD) of 300 and 400 m are important targets of functional capacity. The present study was performed to determine cutoff values of physical function associated with 6MWD

Liver Function Tests in Chronic Congestive Heart Failure [PDF]
It has been difficult for the clinician to evaluate quantitatively and qualitatively the degree of damage to the liver in the presence of congestive heart failure. This paper gives a statistical analysis of the results of various liver function tests on a group of patients with congestive heart failure.

Liver function tests in patients with acute heart failure [PDF]
Acute heart failure (AHF) is associated with multiorgan dysfunction, which may unfavorably affect prognosis. We investigated the prevalence, clinical determinants, and prognostic consequences of abnormal liver function tests (LFTs) in population with AHF.We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients with AHF, in whom the following LFTs were ...
