Heart rate changes with exercise and voluntary heart rate acceleration
Biological Psychology, 1979The present study examined the relationship between heart rate (HR) changes accompanying isometric and isotonic exercises and HR changes during attempted voluntary HR acceleration. Substantial cardiac accelerations accompanied both types of exertion, with the isotonic exercise attracting the larger magnitude HR changes.

Effect of Heart-Rate Control Training on Heart-Rate Discrimination
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 19784 subjects were exposed to discrimination-testing procedures before and after biofeedback training to increase and decrease their heart rates. Results indicated significant increases and decreases in heart rate, as well as a significant improvement in accuracy of discrimination.
