Approximating Heart Rate Variability [PDF]

open access: yes2008 Second International Conference on Pervasive Computing Technologies for Healthcare, 2008
Heart rate variability (HRV) measurement in the field has not been widely studied due to the presence of substantial noises in certain circumstances even after signal processing. To overcome such a difficulty, a method, called VACA (vote-and-chain algorithm) is proposed to obtain an approximate HRV measurement.

Tryptophan metabolite atlas uncovers organ, age, and sex‐specific variations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tryptophan metabolites were analyzed across twelve organs, the central nervous system, and serum in male and female mice at three life stages. We found tissue‐, sex‐, and age‐specific differences, including increased indole‐3‐pyruvate and kynurenine in aging males.

Variability of the Heart Rhythm as an Additional Marker for Determining Vegetative Functions in Patients with Chronic Cerebral Ischemia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Aim. Practical cardiology is in constant search for non-invasive vascular risk markers. Heart rhythm reflects the body\u27s response to various stimuli of the external and internal environment. Heart rate variability (HRV) has a prognostic and diagnostic

Heart rate variability in isolated rabbit heart

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 1996
The presence of heart rate variability (HRV) in patients with cardiac denervation after heart transplantation raised our interest in HRV of isolated, denervated hearts. Hearts from seven adult white ELCO rabbits were transferred to a perfusion apparatus. All hearts were perfused in the working mode and in the Langendorff mode for 20 minutes each.

Multimodal Autonomic Biomarkers Predict Phenoconversion in Pure Autonomic Failure

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pure autonomic failure (PAF) presents with autonomic failure without other neurological features. A third develop central neurological features, fulfilling criteria for multiple system atrophy (MSA) and Lewy body diseases (LBD), including Parkinson's disease and Dementia with Lewy bodies.

Heart rate variability in type 2 diabetes mellitus: A systematic review and meta–analysis

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Background Cardiac autonomic neuropathy in type 2 dibetes mellitus (T2DM) patients is frequent and associated with high cardiovascular mortality. Heart rate variability (HRV) is the gold standard to measure cardiac autonomic neuropathy.

Central Dysmyelination in SSADH‐Deficient Humans and Mice

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase deficiency (SSADHD) is an inherited metabolic disorder characterized by an accumulation of γ‐aminobutyric (GABA). In addition to its synaptic role as an inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA also plays an important role in myelination.

Time Series Analysis using Embedding Dimension on Heart Rate Variability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is the measurement sequence with one or more visible variables of an underlying dynamic system, whose state changes with time. In practice, it is difficult to know what variables determine the actual dynamic system.

Heart Rate Variability-Based Driver Drowsiness Detection and Its Validation With EEG

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2019
Objective: Driver drowsiness detection is a key technology that can prevent fatal car accidents caused by drowsy driving. The present work proposes a driver drowsiness detection algorithm based on heart rate variability (HRV) analysis and validates the ...
