Training one model to detect heart and lung sound events from single point auscultations [PDF]
Objective: This work proposes a semi-supervised training approach for detecting lung and heart sounds simultaneously with only one trained model and in invariance to the auscultation point. Methods: We use open-access data from the 2016 Physionet/CinC Challenge, the 2022 George Moody Challenge, and from the lung sound database HF_V1.

A Visual Domain Transfer Learning Approach for Heartbeat Sound Classification [PDF]
Heart disease is the most common reason for human mortality that causes almost one-third of deaths throughout the world. Detecting the disease early increases the chances of survival of the patient and there are several ways a sign of heart disease can be detected early.

The seed pod valves of Australian Banksia attenuata plants are not simply bi‐layers which bend when dry. These experiments and models reveal complex mechanics, which allow seed release only after several steps of seed pod opening. Stiffness gradients prevent delamination of the valves during loading, and a shape‐memory function protects the seeds ...

A Comprehensive Survey on Heart Sound Analysis in the Deep Learning Era [PDF]
Heart sound auscultation has been applied in clinical usage for early screening of cardiovascular diseases. Due to the high demand for auscultation expertise, automatic auscultation can help with auxiliary diagnosis and reduce the burden of training professional clinicians.

Metal‐tetracene dimeric complexes are synthesized through the pyridyl coordination to either Pt(II) or Pd(II). Photophysical properties are systematically compared as a function of the metal using steady‐state and time‐resolved spectroscopy. The Pt(II) dimer exhibits efficient intramolecular singlet fission and subsequent intramolecular up‐conversion ...

Codec Data Augmentation for Time-domain Heart Sound Classification [PDF]
Heart auscultations are a low-cost and effective way of detecting valvular heart diseases early, which can save lives. Nevertheless, it has been difficult to scale this screening method since the effectiveness of auscultations is dependent on the skill of doctors.
