Quality of life in pediatric patients with tricuspid valve replacement

open access: yesПатология кровообращения и кардиохирургия, 2018
The article presents the results of the assessment of 52 patients' quality of life that had tricuspid valve prosthesis at the age from 1 to 16 years. Quality of life was evaluated by using a Nottingham Health Profile questionnaire.

Full‐Field Assessment of Geometry and Collagenous Architecture of Porcine Valve Leaflets via Laser Micrometry and Quantitative Polarized Light Imaging

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
Despite the frequent failure of aortic valves and pediatric usage of pulmonary valves as a replacement, comparative studies on their collagenous architecture and macroscale geometries are limited. We non‐destructively compared thickness and anisotropy in aortic and pulmonary valve leaflets to better understand the differences between valve types ...

Aortic valve replacement in sheep with a novel trileaflet mechanical heart valve prosthesis without anticoagulationCentral MessagePerspective

open access: yesJTCVS Open, 2021
Background: Even after decades of intensive research, an ideal heart valve prosthesis remains elusive. Shortcomings of conventional devices include reduced durability of bioprostheses and the thrombogenicity of mechanical substitutes, necessitating ...

Left atrial anomalous muscular band as incidental finding during video-assisted mitral surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Congenital fibromuscular bands have been described inleft ventricle or right atrium and have been diagnosed by echocardiography and CT scan. The first report of anomalous band in the left atrium was described in 1897 by Rollestone (1).

Outcome of heart valve prosthesis in Bangladesh: A retrospective study

open access: yesBangladesh Medical Research Council Bulletin, 2019
Background: Prosthetic heart valve for middle aged patients requiring valve replacement remains controversialBecause of the co-morbidities and limited life expectancy, bioprosthesis is the likely choice for older aged patients. Objective: The aim of the study was to quantify long term survival rate and major morbidity in patients undergoing heart

Preparation and Optimization of Electrospun Nylon‐6 Fiber‐Reinforced High Strength and Toughness Thermoplastic Polyurethane Composites for Potential Use in Prosthetic Heart Valves

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Based on electrospinning nylon fiber, nylon 6 /TPU (PA6/TPU) composites are prepared by three strategies, and the mechanical properties of PA6/TPU composites are analyzed and compared. Comprehensive analysis, the impregnation method is simple to operate fiber‐reinforced composites, and the mechanical properties of PA6/TPU composite are significantly ...
