Artificial Organs, EarlyView.Pre‐operative vitamin D deficiency was associated with a three‐fold increased risk of driveline infection in left ventricular assist device recipients. This potentially modifiable risk factor could be readily addressed through pre‐implant screening and supplementation, potentially reducing the burden of this common complication.
