Stochastic Modelling and Dynamic Analysis of Cardiovascular System with Rotary Left Ventricular Assist Devices [PDF]
The left ventricular assist device (LVAD) has been used for end-stage heart failure patients as a therapeutic option. The aortic valve plays a critical role in heart failure and its treatment with LVAD. The cardiovascular-LVAD model is often used to investigate the physiological demands required by patients and predict the hemodynamic of the native ...

Abstract Background Left ventricular (LV) unloading is a crucial intervention to decrease the harmful consequences of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) on hemodynamic status in cardiogenic shock (CS) patients. However, a lingering question preoccupies experts: Should we intervene early or wait until clinical deterioration caused by increasing ...

Decellularized aortic conduits: could their cryopreservation affect post-implantation outcomes? A morpho-functional study on porcine homografts [PDF]
Decellularized porcine aortic valve conduits (AVCs) implanted in a Vietnamese Pig (VP) experimental animal model were matched against decellularized and then cryopreserved AVCs to assess the effect of cryopreservation on graft hemodynamic performance and

This study demonstrates that patients with preoperative mild‐to‐moderate aortic regurgitation who undergo durable left ventricular assist device implantation, either with or without concomitant aortic valve replacement (AVR), demonstrate comparable long‐term survival rates while on support.

A new technological system to revolutionize the management of valvular heart diseases: transcatheter aortic valve for the treatment of aortic stenosis [PDF]
The goal of this study is a technology analysis of a revolution for the management of valvular heart diseases given by new technological system based on transcatheter artificial aortic valve, a delivery catheter and a loading system for the treatment of aortic stenosis (a narrowing of the aortic valve because of calcium build up that restricts blood ...

Long-term follow-up of elderly patients subjected to aortic valve replacement with mechanical prostheses [PDF]
We propose to analyse the long-term follow-up in patients older than 65 years of age who received a mechanical valve in the aortic position, using death and prosthetic-related complications as endpoints.

Early Albumin Administration in Veno‐Arterial Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation
A total of 660 patients received VA ECMO support (66.4% eCPR). Three different volume resuscitation strategies were employed. The Crystalloid group received balanced crystalloid volume substitution. In the Albumin group, a 1:4 volume mixture of albumin and balanced crystalloids (10 g/L) was used.
