Post‐Market Analysis of the Xenios Console With the Xlung Tubing Kit 230 for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation After Cardiac Surgery

This study is a comprehensive post‐market analysis of the Xenios console and XLung kit 230 preconfigured ECMO tubing set in post‐cardiotomy applications. The performance of this device was evaluated and demonstrated in all key clinical areas, with an adequate safety profile.

An Optimized Multi‐Stage Drainage Cannula Design for Venoarterial Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation

This study utilized an extensive optimization involving n = 540 design of experiments to produce a superior drainage cannula design. Compared to the clinically used Maquet model, our optimized design demonstrated reduced blood stagnation volumes, increased cannula tip velocities, and higher upper body drainage, potentially minimizing risk of thrombosis

Early Multicenter Outcomes of Dedicated Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement for Left Ventricular Assist Device‐Associated Pure Aortic Regurgitation

LVAD‐associated aortic regurgitation impairs circulatory support, with limited surgical and off‐label options. In a multicenter registry (n = 30), the AR‐dedicated JenaValve Trilogy TAVR eliminated AR, achieving 96.7% (29/30) technical success and 93.3% (28/30) device success (VARC‐3), with 3.3% (1/30) 30‐day mortality.

A guide to the ecological limitations of phage therapy of bacterial biofilms: Is what's best for the phage best for the physician?

Bacteriophages—viruses that kill bacteria—are promising weapons against bacterial biofilms: sessile communities notoriously resistant to antibiotics. Yet phages evolved not so much to eradicate bacteria as to obtain new bacteria to infect. That goal, however, may conflict with the physician's objective of complete bacterial clearance.
