The Right Ventricle in Congenital Heart Diseases
2014Right ventricular function is an important determinant of prognosis and outcome in congenital heart diseases. Right ventricular (RV) adaptation to congenital heart diseases (CHD) has many faces as there is a wide variety in defects involving the right ventricle as well as in treatment strategies.

ECMO in Single Ventricle Heart Disease
Current Treatment Options in Pediatrics, 2019Cardiac extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for single ventricle heart disease is a complex intervention applied to a heterogeneous population of children. In this review, we describe the variable single ventricle populations who may be supported with ECMO and highlight recent literature regarding outcomes, trends, and evolving strategies.

Myoglobin in the heart ventricle of tuna and other fishes
Experientia, 1980The myoglobin content in the hearts of several fishes is positively correlated with the ecological physiology of the species. In the tuna heart, where the highest myoglobin values are found, the logarithmic relationship between myoglobin content and body weight is reported.

On the Regional Metabolism of Beef Heart Ventricles
Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1973AbstractThe concentrations of some oligoelements (iron, copper, zinc) and electrolytes (calcium, magnesium, potassium) and the activity of the succinate‐cytochrome c reductase system were determined in various regions of the ventricles of beef heart. In the subepicardial layers of the ventricles and in the upper part of the septum a higher content of ...

Myocardial fiber architecture of the human heart ventricles
The Anatomical Record, 1982AbstractThe ventricular fiber architecture has been studied anatomically and histologically in 25 human hearts. Special attention has been paid to the form of insertion of the myocardial fibers and to the existence or nonexistence of an independent system of fibers for each ventricle.

Options for the Failing Ventricle in Pediatric Heart Disease
Current Cardiology Reports, 2013The management of the pediatric patient with the failing ventricle poses its own therapeutic challenges, not least because patient size limits options available. Once medical management has hit its ceiling, attention is turned to surgical options for mechanical support.

Mechanisms for heart failure in systemic right ventricle
Heart Failure Reviews, 2019There are two predominant scenarios where the right ventricle acts as the systemic ventricle, namely congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (CC-TGA) and patients with D-transposition of the great arteries (D-TGA) who have undergone an atrial switch operation.
