Extracellular Vesicles Modulation by an Adiponectin Receptor Agonist Provides Cardioprotection for Myocardial Ischemic Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ALY688, a drug mimicking the heart‐protective hormone adiponectin, reduces myocardial ischemia injury. ALY688 increases the production of extracellular vesicles, which carry protective cargo including adiponectin itself.

The Quantitative Relationship between Longitudinal and Radial Function in Left, Right and Total Heart Pumping in Humans. [Elektronisk resurs]

open access: yes, 2007
The total heart volume variation (THVV) during systole has been proposed to be caused by radial function of the ventricles, but definitive data for both ventricles have not been presented.

Testosterone does not shorten action potential duration in Langendorff-perfused rabbit ventricles

open access: yes, 2022
Background: Women have longer baseline QT intervals than men. Because previous studies showed that testosterone and 5α-dihydrotestosterone shorten the ventricular action potential duration (APD) in animal models, differential testosterone concentrations ...

Long‐Term Hydrophilic, Anti‐Clotting, and Anti‐Fibrotic Dynamic Covalent Silicone‐Based Biomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Dynamic covalent crosslinking of a Schiff‐base silicone elastomer with hydrazide‐functionalized polymers is demonstrated to improve the long‐term hydrophilicity as well as the anti‐fouling and anti‐clotting properties of PDMS implants. The hydrazone‐functionalized material prevents hydrophobic recovery, resists clotting, and significantly reduces ...

IN VITRO ULTRASONOGRAPHY OF THE NORMAL SHEEP HEART [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Veterinary Journal, 2008
The anatomical structure of normal heart was studied in vitro through ultrasonography of 60 healthy hearts of sheep collected following slaughter. After removing the clot or any remained blood in atria and ventricles, the organs were imaged under water ...

Basic fibroblast growth factor in atria and ventricles of the vertebrate heart

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 1989
Extracts from atrial and ventricular heart tissue of several species (chicken, rat, sheep, and cow) are strongly mitogenic for chicken skeletal myoblasts, with the highest apparent concentration of biological activity in the atrial extracts.

Oxygen Consumption of the Auricles, Right and Left Ventricles of the Normal, Hypothyroid and Hyperthyroid Rat Heart

open access: yes, 1957
A study of the oxygen consumption of the atrium, right and left ventricles from rat heart has been reported. The response of these heart regions to the in vitro and in vivo addition of thyroxine has been reported.

Microgel‐Based 3D Bioprinting: A Convergent Strategy Integrating Material Design, Jamming Dynamics, and Biological Function

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Microgel‐based 3D printed constructs represent a compelling and versatile innovation for engineering architecturally complex, dynamically remodelable, and biocompatible structures with high structural fidelity and bioactivity. By integrating material design, biofabrication, and biological function, these systems enable the development of adaptive ...
