Is Amiodarone Good for Heartburn?
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1990Three cases are reported in which resolution of severe esophagitic dyspepsia followed amiodarone therapy for cardiac arrhythmias. This effect has proved long lasting. The mechanism of amiodarone action may be related to its calcium antagonist or nitratelike properties that reduce lower esophageal sphincter tone.

The association of heartburn with gastritis
The American Journal of Digestive Diseases, 1977Esophageal, fundal, antral, and duodenal mucosal biopsies from 10 patients with heartburn were compared with biopsies from 18 patients with dyspepsia but without heartburn or radiographic or endoscopic evidence of peptic ulcer disease, gastric retention, or esophageal stricture.

Heartburn treated with tapwater
Medical Hypotheses, 1983A very simple and effective method against heartburn (Hb) is described; it consists in drinking 1-2 glasses of tapwater. A larger scale trial of the method is also recommended against heartburn during the first trimester of pregnancy and possibly against peptic ulcer.
