Metabolic differences in the formation of gymnosperm- and angiosperm lignins were explained in terms of the different functions of O-methyltransferase and redacting enzymes which participate in methylation and reduction of hydroxycinnamic acid intermediates in biosynthetic pathway of these two types of lignins.
