Review of Inorganic Separator Engineering for Next‐Generation Lithium–Sulfur Batteries: Compromise or Cornerstone?

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Inorganic compound‐modified separators transform lithium–sulfur batteries from passive polysulfide confinement to active reaction‐pathway regulation. A Practical Relevance Index (PRI)‐guided framework bridges interfacial chemistry of inorganic separators with practical constraints, establishing unified design principles for scalable, high‐energy ...

Atomic‐Scale Detection of Néel Vector Switching in the Single‐Layer A‐Type Antiferromagnet Cr2S3‐2D

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Interfacial electron donation from graphene redistributes charge within single‐layer Cr2S3‐2D, preferentially accumulating at the lower Cr/S plane. The resulting minute magnetic imbalance lifts the equivalence of the two magnetic sublayers, enabling atomic‐resolution identification and field‐induced control of Néel‐vector states in a two‐dimensional A ...

High‐Power Rapid Laser‐Induced Synthesis of Multi‐functional Cobalt Metal‐Organic Framework With an Unprecedented Synthesis Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Laser‐assisted synthesis enables rapid (within 1 h) and high‐yield (≥90%) production of Co‐MOFs with mesoporous structures, tunable magnetic and optical properties, and efficient adsorption of N2, CH4, and CO2 for low‐energy gas separation. DFT calculations elucidate the electronic structure and adsorption behavior.

Hierarchical Multi‐Material Architectures With Gradient Design for Dynamic‐Range Flexible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

Agar‐Based Optical Sensing System With a Phosphorescent Grid Pattern for Measuring Stress Distributions of Root Growth Using the Sampling Moiré Method

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This paper presents an agar medium with a phosphorescent grid pattern that measures the stress distribution generated by growing plant roots. Using phosphorescence, the system optically separates the grid pattern from the root and extracts the grid deformation.

Flexible Implantable Silicon Carbide Multi‐Electrode Array (MEA) for Cell Multichannel Recording and Cell Ablation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Flexible silicon carbide (SiC) microelectrode arrays enable high‐fidelity, multichannel cell extracellular recording and precise localized ablation. SiC has been extensively evaluated to persist long‐term in chronic physiological conditions while remaining robust, with excellent electrical and electrochemical stability.

Analysis of heat affected zone in the micro-electric discharge machining

International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management, 2008
It is known from the classical EDM process, which is a thermal process, that a significantly damaged zone, called Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) is generated around the EDmachined features. However, the presence of the analogous zone in the micro-EDM process has not been addressed adequately so far.

Heat Affected Zone Softening Susceptibility Test

Volume 3: Operations, Monitoring, and Maintenance; Materials and Joining, 2020
Abstract There have been a number of unexpected girth weld failures in pipelines, both in-service and during pre-service hydrostatic testing. Investigation of these incidents indicated that the line pipe met industry standard requirements, such as API 5L and the welding procedures had been qualified to API 1104 and construction welding ...

Prediction of residual stresses in the heat affected zone

Journal de Physique IV, 2004
In this paper the behavior of a disc made up of carbon manganese steel and subjected to an axisymmetric heating in its middle zone is considered. The applied thermal cycle generates localized metallurgical solid-solid phase transformations. Contrary to the study performed some years ago, the present work is concerned with relatively thick discs that ...
