Nonlinear Instability of Cylindrical Flow with Mass and Heat Transfer

Physica Scripta, 2003
Summary: The nonlinear Rayleigh-Taylor stability of the cylindrical interface between the vapor and liquid phases of a fluid is studied when the phases are enclosed between two cylindrical surfaces coaxial with the interface, and when there is a mass and heat transfer across the interface. The method of multiple expansions is used for the investigation.

On the effect of wall oscillations on mass (heat) transfer in channel flow

Meccanica, 1985
A mechanism is investigated which might lead to enhancement of the rate of mass (or heat) transfer in channel flow at relatively low Reynolds numbers. One of the possible areas of application of this mechanism concerns blood oxigenators. Enhancement of the transfer rate is sought by oscillating the channel walls.

Flow friction and heat and mass transfer in a swirled flow

Journal of Engineering Physics, 1966
An experimental investigation has been made of flow friction and heat and mass transfer inside cylindrical tubes with exit sections without diaphragms and various degrees of swirl of one-and two-phase flows, A comparative analysis of the results obtained has been made.

Homotopy Peturbation Method for Heat and Mass Transfer in Magnetohydrodynamic Flow

Journal of Thermophysics and Heat Transfer, 2012
In this study, an approximate analytical solution of the magnetohydrodynamic natural convection flow and heat generation fluid driven by a continuously moving permeable surface immersed in a fluid-saturated porous medium is obtained using the homotopy perturbation method. The homotopy perturbation method produces analytical expressions for the solution

Numerical Study on Flow and Heat and Mass Transfer in Pulsating Heat Pipe

ASME 2019 6th International Conference on Micro/Nanoscale Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
Abstract Numerical simulation was performed to establishing a two-dimensional pulsating heat pipe model, to investigate the flow and heat transfer characteristics in the pulsating heat pipe by using the Mixture and Euler models, which were unsteady models of vapor-liquid two-phase, based on the control-volume numerical procedure ...

Heat and Mass Transfer from Single Spheres in Stokes Flow

The Physics of Fluids, 1962
The classical problem of heat and mass transfer from single spheres at low values of the Reynolds number, where the velocity field is given by Stokes' formula, is considered. It is shown, by the use of a singular perturbation technique, how an expansion may be derived for the Nusselt number Nu in terms of the Péclet number Pe which yields an accurate ...

Heat and mass transfer in cross-flow air-to-air membrane heat exchanger in heating mode

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2016
Abstract The main objective of the paper is numerical simulation and analysis of heat and mass transfer, condensation and frost formation conditions in cross-flow membrane-based heat exchanger. To get the desired results, the following problems were solved: numerical models for heat transfer under uniform wall temperature for parallel plates channel ...

Heat transfer and diffusion in wedge flows with rapid mass transfer

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1962
Abstract Boundary-layer solutions are given for the flow of binary constant-property mixtures over planes and wedges, with heat and mass transfer through the boundary surface. Exact numerical solutions are given for Prandtl and Schmidt numbers from 0.1 to 10.

Experimental study of heat and mass transfer characteristics in a cross-flow heating tower

International Journal of Refrigeration, 2017
Abstract A heating tower heat pump (HTHP), as a novel integrated heating and cooling unit, is drawing more and more attention due to its high efficiency, low limitation of topographical conditions and no frost problems. The heating tower which can take advantage of energy from air is a significant unit of HTHP system and greatly affects system ...

Mass Transfer, Flow, and Heat Transfer About a Rotating Disk

Journal of Heat Transfer, 1960
The effects of mass injection or removal at the surface of a rotating disk on heat transfer and on the flow field about the disk are studied. Consideration is given to gaseous systems which are composed of either one or two component gases. Solutions of the equations which govern the hydrodynamics, energy transfer, and mass diffusion have been obtained
