PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Relative Environmental, Economic, and Energy Performance Indicators of Fuel Compositions with Biomass

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The present study deals with the experimental research findings for the characteristics of ignition (ignition delay times, minimum ignition temperature) and combustion (maximum combustion temperature, concentration of anthropogenic emission), as well as ...

Somatostatin receptor 4 (SSTR4) is a tumor suppressor in cutaneous and head & neck squamous cell carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies somatostatin receptor 4 (Sstr4) as a critical tumor suppressor against skin and head/neck cancers (HNSCC, cSCC, and BCC). The loss of Sstr4 removes a check on cell growth, causing hyperactivation of the MAPK‐ERK signaling pathway (↑).

The VHL tumor suppressor at the crossroad of protein folding, aggregation, and cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Mutations, environmental stress, and chaperone dysfunction can destabilize pVHL, promoting its conversion from the native folded state into amyloid‐like assemblies. This transition may contribute to protein storage, cell dormancy, survival, and drug resistance.

Heat transfer in the vortex zone of a cyclone-bed chamber of furnace unit with fluidized bed

open access: yesВесці Нацыянальнай акадэміі навук Беларусі: Серыя фізіка-тэхнічных навук, 2019
An experimental investigation of the heat-transfer coefficient to a spherical probe in a cyclone-bed chamber with fluidized bed in the “cold” and “hot” regimes has been carried out.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Numerical Modeling of a Flame Surface in the Closed Chamber

open access: yesМеханика машин, механизмов и материалов, 2008
The method for modeling of the flame surface in a closed cylindrical bomb is developed assuming preserving the spherical flame front at interactions with confined walls.

Mechanism and behavior of nucleate boiling heat transfer to the alkalai liquid metals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
A model of boiling heat transfer to the alkali liquid metals is postulated from an examination of the events and phases of the nucleate boiling cycle. The model includes the important effect of microlayer evaporation which causes a wave of temperature ...
