COMPLEX INVESTIGATIONS OF THERMALPHYSIC AND INFRA-RED CHARACTERISTICS AT THE PHASE INVERSIONS

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2005
The complex methods of investigation of heat exchange at crystallization and melting of selectively transparent materials in terms of changing of external heat influences, which include calorimetry of IK-currents, temperature taking, the heat conduction ...

Additives to Coal-Based Fuel Pellets for the Intensification of Combustion and Reduction in Anthropogenic Gas Emissions

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Cylinder-shaped fuel pellets that were 3 mm in diameter and 3 mm in height, with a mass of 20 mg, were produced by compressing dry coal processing waste under the pressure of 5 MPa. The first group of pellets from coal dust with a particle size less than

Methods for Accuracy Increasing of Solid Brittle Materials Fracture Toughness Determining

open access: yesПриборы и методы измерений, 2022
Method for determining of the fracture toughness of brittle materials by indentation is described. The critical stress intensity factor KIC quantifies the fracture toughness. Methods were developed and applied to improve the accuracy of KIC determination

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Natural Convection Melting Influence on the Thermal Resistance of a Brick Partially Filled with Phase Change Material

open access: yesFluids, 2021
The constant growth of urban agglomerations with the development of transport networks requires the optimal use of energy and new ways of storing it. Energy efficiency is becoming one of the main challenges of modern engineering.

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Mechanism and behavior of nucleate boiling heat transfer to the alkalai liquid metals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
A model of boiling heat transfer to the alkali liquid metals is postulated from an examination of the events and phases of the nucleate boiling cycle. The model includes the important effect of microlayer evaporation which causes a wave of temperature ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Internal mass and heat transfer between a single deformable droplet and simple extensional creeping flow

open access: yes, 2018
This work studied numerically the internal mass/heat transfer of a deformable droplet immersed in a simple extensional flow. The droplet would deform gradually from prolate spheroid to 'peanut' in uniaxial extensional flow, or from oblate spheriod to ...
