EVOLUTION OF HEAT ENGINES

open access: yesMechanics of Machines, Mechanisms and Materials
The process of development of heat engines, their types, modifications, problems encountered on this way and ways to overcome them are considered. The creative search of engineers, scientists, and practitioners who operated heat engines (from the moment of their appearance to the present day) is described.

Rheocasting versus Die Casting: An Insight into the Low‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior of AlSi7Mg0.6

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study compares rheocast lightweight components with high‐pressure die cast materials regarding microstructure and fatigue behavior. Rheocast process offers higher efficiency due to lower casting temperatures. Despite some microstructural differences, both processes show similar strengths (yield strength 125 MPa, tensile strength 240 MPa).

Studies on exhaust gas recycling and waste heat recovery for the Z12V190 diesel engine

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science, 2015
The Z12V190 diesel engine has high fuel consumption and low thermal efficiency, and releaseslarge amounts of diesel exhaust gas and waste heat into the atmosphere. This causes hugeresource as well as energy waste.
