Performance of a quantum heat engine at strong reservoir coupling. [PDF]
We study a quantum heat engine at strong coupling between the system and the thermal reservoirs. Exploiting a collective coordinate mapping, we incorporate system-reservoir correlations into a consistent thermodynamic analysis, thus circumventing the ...

Under environmental changes, the expression level of neuropeptide (NP) and neuropeptide receptor (NPR) genes changes to confer context‐dependent adaptation to the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. Through finding more regulatory elements in the NPR genes in comparison with their ligands (NPs), we found that NPR‐biased transcriptional regulation ...

Experimental realization of a minimal microscopic heat engine. [PDF]
Microscopic heat engines are microscale systems that convert energy flows between heat reservoirs into work or systematic motion. We have experimentally realized a minimal microscopic heat engine.

Using supramolecular monomers, various hydrogel culture systems were formulated to culture protoplasts; including 2D, 2.5D, and 3D hydrogels. Depending on the culture platform, bioactive functionalization led to protoplast enlargement (2D and 2.5D) or plasmolysis (3D). This work shows the potential to modularly engineer synthetic platforms for cellular

LIN28B Promotes Cancer Cell Dissemination and Angiogenesis
Children diagnosed with high‐risk neuroblastoma have a 5‐year event‐free survival rate of less than 50% and poor outcomes after recurrence. Deregulation of the LIN28B oncogene can be addressed in these patients. Upregulation of LIN28B is shown to support the metastatic cascade.

The prodrug strategy used in this study offers new promise for cancer metabolism‐based therapies. JHU083, a prodrug that, when cleaved by protease in the tumor microenvironment, yields the glutamine antagonist DON. JHU083 inhibits tumor growth by targeting glutamine‐addicted cancer cells and suppressing glutamine‐dependent M2 macrophages, leading to a ...

Thermoelectric study of dissipative quantum dot heat engines
This paper examines the thermoelectric response of a dissipative quantum dot heat engine based on the Anderson-Holstein model in two relevant operating limits: (i) when the dot phonon modes are out of equilibrium, and (ii) when the dot phonon modes are ...

Quantum mechanical bound for efficiency of quantum Otto heat engine
The second law of thermodynamics constrains that the efficiency of heat engines, classical or quantum, cannot be greater than the universal Carnot efficiency.

This study optimized a cell‐based ELISA for HIT antibody detection using PF4‐coated breast cancer cells (MDA‐MB‐231). Enhanced binding was observed at 50 mM NaCl and 4% paraformaldehyde fixation. Live MDA‐MB‐231 and HCT‐116 cells demontrated superior sensitivity and specificity, providing a promising platelet‐free alternative for clinical HIT diagnosis.
