Parameter identifiability for heat conduction with a boundary input

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, 2009
The identification of the piecewise thermal conductivity from measurements of the temperature in both space and time is investigated. It is shown that the identification process provides not only a unique solution, but also that the identification is stable.

Comparing anthropogenic heat input and heat accumulation in the subsurface of Osaka, Japan

Science of The Total Environment, 2018
In metropolitan areas, shallow groundwater temperatures are affected by anthropogenic heat sources. The resulting thermal conditions in the subsurface are highly site-specific, and spatial and temporal trends have only been revealed for a few cities.

Comments on "The Heating of Slabs With Arbitrary Heat Inputs"

Journal of the Aerospace Sciences, 1959
^|=0.II9 AT M^oo more closely with the experiment than those of Li and Geiger. This is expected since the effect of curvature is included in the present solution, as was also pointed out by Li and Geiger. The pressure coefficient at r = a has also been computed vs. 6.

Impact of Heat Input on Mechanical Properties

Indian Welding Journal, 2017
The mechanical properties of a welded joint significantly depend on the cooling rate of the joint, and this in turn is influenced by the heat input (welding energy), plate thickness and working temperature (interpass temperature). The most significant microstructure changes from the viewpoint of the properties of the weld metal and the heat-affected ...

Performance of a dehumidifying compression heat pump with auxiliary heat input

Heat Recovery Systems and CHP, 1992
Abstract Experiments are carried out on a R114 dehumidifying heat pump installed in a closed circuit drying tunnel. The influence of auxiliary heat input before condenser and/or evaporator are studied. Actual coefficient of performance varied from about 2 to 3. Studies throw light on the significance of the location of the auxiliary heat input in the

Transient Analysis of Nonuniform Heat Input Propagation Through a Heat Sink Base

Journal of Electronic Packaging, 2016
For thermal management architectures wherein the heat sink is embedded close to a dynamic heat source, nonuniformities may propagate through the heat sink base to the coolant. Available transient models predict the effective heat spreading resistance to calculate chip temperature rise, or simplify to a representative axisymmetric geometry.

Simplified dynamic model for heat input and output of heat storing stoves

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2005
A simplified method to describe the dynamical heat output from heat storing stoves for small houses with a single or several successive firing batches is presented. Both measurements in a stove and theoretical and experimental studies of the combustion of single wood logs can be applied to study the heat input from the batch firing to the furnace walls.

Development of Offshore Steel for High Heat Input Welding

2019
To reduce the construction cost and period of steel structure, high-efficiency welding methods applying high heat input have been widely employed. However, deterioration of the strength and toughness, especially low-temperature impact toughness, due to the coarse grains in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) of weld steels often comes along with high heat ...

Heat input properties of hollow cathode arc as a welding heat source

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2005
In order to clarify whether a hollow cathode arc (HCA) can be used as a welding heat source in space, investigations into the fundamental characteristics of HCA were experimentally performed under low pressure conditions. The HCA method enables an arc discharge to ignite and maintain under low pressure conditions; in contrast, low pressure conditions ...
