Combustion Characteristics of a Hydrogen-Fueled TJI Engine under Knocking Conditions

open access: yesEnergies
The use of a two-stage combustion system in a hydrogen-fueled engine is characteristic of modern internal combustion engines. The main problem with hydrogen combustion in such systems is knocking combustion.

Heat flow of the Earth and resonant capture of solar 57-Fe axions

open access: yes, 2009
In a very conservative approach, supposing that total heat flow of the Earth is exclusively due to resonant capture inside the Earth of axions, emitted by 57-Fe nuclei on Sun, we obtain limit on mass of hadronic axion ...

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Effect of the Expansion Ratio on Combustion Oscillations in Solid-Fuel Ramjets: An Experimental and Numerical Study

open access: yesAerospace
This study investigates the impact of the expansion ratio on combustion oscillation phenomena and their driving mechanisms in a solid-fuel ramjet (SFRJ) through experimental and numerical simulations.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Low-Temperature Oxidation Behavior and Non-Isothermal Heat Release of Heavy Oil During Oxygen-Reduced Air Injection

open access: yesEnergies
Oxygen-reduced air injection technology has demonstrated considerable potential for developing heavy oil reservoirs. However, the low-temperature oxidation (LTO) behavior and non-isothermal heat release of heavy oil under oxygen-reduced conditions remain

Water release from heated concretes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Water release from three concretes as a function of temperature has been determined experimentally. Limestone concrete releases more water at a moderate temperature than do magnetite or basalt concretes. The amount of water in the concretes is 6.2%, 6.3%, and 5% by weight for limestone, basalt and magnitite concretes, respectively. All of the concretes

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.
