SP-100 Heat Source Heat Exchanger Design

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1994
A conceptual design for a liquid metal to gas counterflow heat exchanger has been developed for use in the SP‐100 Closed Brayton Cycle (CBC) Space Reactor Power System (SRPS). The Heat Source Heat Exchanger (HSHX) is required to transfer 80 kWt from the 1350 K lithium reactor coolant to the He/Xe working fluid of the Brayton Rotating Unit (BRU).

Heating Sources Switching System

2014
This paper presents a system for automatic switching between thermal sources—a gas boiler, a heating pump and solar thermal collectors—in order to reduce the gas consumption in the ICDT Pro-DD Research Institute of Transilvania University of Brasov.

Heat Sources for the Heat Pumps

2006
Highest significance for the heat pump installation has its heat source/sink. In other words, the heat pump system for heating application has higher efficiency if a heat source has better thermodynamic properties. Widely used low-temperature heat sources and heat sinks today are: water (river, lake, groundwater, or sea water), ground, air, or the Sun.

Ground Source Heat Pump

2016
This chapter introduces one of the two main components of solar assisted ground source heat pumps: the ground source heat pump. Main technical aspects have been discussed, explaining the main factors that influence the energy performance and other relevant aspects of great importance for the particular combined application with solar thermal collectors.

Sources of Geothermal Heat

2013
The main purpose of this chapter is to explain how a relatively shallow geothermal resource from which heat is to be extracted relates to the dynamics of the earth. The structure of the interior of the earth is described in general terms. Tectonic plates and events taking place at their boundaries are explained, elaborating on subduction boundaries and
