Heat Sources for the Heat Pumps
2006Highest significance for the heat pump installation has its heat source/sink. In other words, the heat pump system for heating application has higher efficiency if a heat source has better thermodynamic properties. Widely used low-temperature heat sources and heat sinks today are: water (river, lake, groundwater, or sea water), ground, air, or the Sun.

Heat and Mass Transfer, 1997
The two-dimensional thermal problem due to relative motion of a medium and a suddenly activated circular heat source is solved for several boundary conditions. The solutions can be interpreted as for a moving heat source in a stationary medium or a medium moving past a stationary heat source.

Analysis of a Parallel-Flow Heat Exchanger with a Heat Source
Heat Transfer Engineering, 2011In this work, a modified analysis of a parallel-flow plate heat exchanger that takes into account a volumetrically uniform heat source in the hot fluid is presented. New expressions for the number of transfer units (NTU) and effectiveness of the heat exchanger are derived.

In this chapter we study problems of conduction combined with internal heat generation, that is the conversion of mechanical energy into internal energy. Here we list some examples of heat generation, specifying the energy “dissipated” per unit volume and unit time, \(\dot{q}\).

The main purpose of this chapter is to explain how a relatively shallow geothermal resource from which heat is to be extracted relates to the dynamics of the earth. The structure of the interior of the earth is described in general terms. Tectonic plates and events taking place at their boundaries are explained, elaborating on subduction boundaries and

Microwave dielectric heating has been used for various purposes for well over five decades. This chapter thus introduces historical trends on the use of these electromagnetic waves in not only domestic microwave ovens but also more importantly applied in such fields as microwave chemistry and materials processing, as well as being envisioned in solar ...
