Study on Heat Storage Tank of Solar Heating System

2010 International Conference on Digital Manufacturing & Automation, 2010
The relationships among solar radiation intensity, volume of heat storage tank, heating load and heat storage temperature difference has been revealed by the theoretical analysis on heat storage tank in active solar water heating system. Heat storage volume can be concluded with the simulation and analysis on solar water heating system in northwest ...

Study of heat transfer in ice-storage tank

Journal of Thermal Science, 2001
The heat transfer process of ice formation on the outside of coil pipe in the ice storage tank with glycol solution as the second refrigerant was studied in this paper analytically and experimentally. A model was developed for the charging process and the conduction shape factor was applied.

Unsteady Temperature Distributions in Vertical Storage Tanks Heated with Heat Pumps

Heat Transfer Engineering, 1998
Abstract In this article, four methods of heating hot water in domestic storage tanks are investigated experimentally to determine the unsteady temperature gradients formed in the storage tank. These four methods involved heating the water with an electric hot water heater, a heat pump parallel to the storage tank, a temperature-controlled heat pump ...

Heat Discharge of Molten Salt in Double Energy Storage Tank

2019
The heat storage performance of double - tank molten salt tank is better than a single - tank system. In order to obtain the heat storage mechanism of double pot molten salt, the spiral coil heat exchanger was placed in the annular gap composed of the cylindrical baffle and open end tank wall.

Case histories of incidents in heated bitumen storage tanks

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 1994
Abstract A study has been made of 73 case histories of incidents involving heated bitumen storage tanks. The majority of incidents were found to be due to operations such as charging and discharging of tanks, including overfilling which can lead to lagging fires and exposure of heater tubes.

Evidence of the oxidation of deposits in heated bitumen storage tanks

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 1993
Abstract Thermal analytical techniques have been used to examine the exothermic nature of the deposits found in heated bitumen storage tanks and to determine if they could act as an ignition source to flammable vapours. The deposits were found to undergo an oxidation/smouldering reaction at temperatures found on the underside of the roof of the tanks.

Use of solar energy for heating asphalt in storage tanks

Applied Energy, 1980
Abstract A solar-heated asphalt storage system has been constructed and operated for two years. The solar radiation, asphalt and ambient temperatures, auxiliary heat and differential collector temperature were monitored for the first year of operation.

Modeling and integration of a heat storage tank in a compressed air electricity storage process

Energy Conversion and Management, 2015
Abstract In an adiabatic compressed air energy storage process (A-CAES), heat storage tank operation is a key factor that determines the overall energy performance of the process. To highlight energy issues linked to a correct tank design in the specific case of an A-CAES system, a two-dimensional thermal numerical model was developed.

Experimental research of heat-mass coupling response of liquid storage tanks

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2017
In order to study the coupling response process of the liquid tank under the external thermal attack, experiments were carried out on a vertical cylindrical storage tank by electric heating. The response processes of the tank pressure, the medium temperatures, and the wet and dry tank wall temperatures were monitored in the experiments.

Thermal performance of a solar greenhouse with water tanks for heat storage and heat exchange

Journal of Agricultural Engineering Research, 1986
Thermal environments were measured during the winter in a solar greenhouse with in-house water tanks for heat storage and heat exchange and with a double layer withdrawable thermal screen. The thermal performance of the greenhouse was analysed as follows: (1) the average solar energy collection factor of the greenhouse system was 0·13.
