Effect of surfactant on flow boiling heat transfer of ethylene glycol/water mixtures in a mini-tube [PDF]
This paper was presented at the 4th Micro and Nano Flows Conference (MNF2014), which was held at University College, London, UK. The conference was organised by Brunel University and supported by the Italian Union of Thermofluiddynamics, IPEM, the ...

We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Ultrafast radiative heat transfer [PDF]
AbstractLight absorption in conducting materials produces heating of their conduction electrons, followed by relaxation into phonons within picoseconds, and subsequent diffusion into the surrounding media over longer timescales. This conventional picture of optical heating is supplemented by radiative cooling, which typically takes place at an even ...

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Experimental investigation of a forced convection heat transfer of the organic fluid R-125 at supercritical pressures and under organic rankine cycle conditions [PDF]
The organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is a suitable technology for utilizing low-grade temperature heat sources of ~100 °C from various industry processes. In the ORC cycle an organic fluid with a lower boiling point is used as a working medium.

Resonant photon tunneling enhancement of the radiative heat transfer [PDF]
We study the dependence of the heat transfer between two semi-infinite solids on the dielectric properties of the bodies. We show that the heat transfer at short separation between the solids may increase by many order of magnitude when the surfaces are ...

HEAT TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT IN LAMINAR CONVECTIVE HEAT TRANSFER WITH NANOFLUIDS
In order to utilize nanofluids in practical applications, accurate prediction of forced convection heat transfer of nanofluids is necessary. In the first part of the present study, we consider the application of some classical correlations of forced convection heat transfer developed for the flow of pure fluids to the case of nanofluids by the use of ...
