Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Optimization of channel geometry in a mini-cooling system: A study of triangular, square, and semicircular sections

open access: yesResults in Engineering
This work examines both experimental and numerical methodologies for a cooling system applied to a copper flat plate under steady-state conditions. The primary factors examined are different inlet fluid temperatures, high applied heat rates, and the ...

Liquid-metal heat transfer in a cocurrent- flow, double-pipe heat exchanger is investigated [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Analysis of liquid-metal heat transfer in cocurrent-flow, double-pipe heat exchangers shows that heat-transfer coefficients depend upon the operating conditions of the heat exchanger and that use of the customary design equation to predict heat-exchanger

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.
