Experimental Investigation of nanofluid heat transfer in a square cross-sectional duct [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
English version Forced convective heat transfer of two different nanofluids including AL$_2$O$_3$-water and CuO-water in laminar flow through square cross section duct under constant heat flux has been investigated. The Nusselt number and average convective heat transfer coefficient for different nanoparticles concentrations as a function of Peclet ...

CFD Analysis of Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient on External Surfaces of Buildings

open access: yes, 2015
Convective heat transfer coefficients for external building surfaces are essential in building energy simulation (BES) to calculate convective heat gains and losses from building facades and roofs to the environment.

Multifunctional Design of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Structures for Temporary Pediatric Fixation Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A metallic implant's higher stiffness compared to the surrounding bone leads to stress shielding problems, causing bone density reduction and bone growth interference in pediatric patients. 3D‐printed triply periodic minimal surface structures present a promising engineering solution.

Semantic Representation of Low‐Cycle‐Fatigue Testing Data Using a Fatigue Test Ontology and ckan.kupferdigital Data Management System

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article introduces an automated approach for converting the raw research data (use case of low‐cycle‐fatigue testing dataset) to machine‐readable resource description framework ones and storing them in an open digital repository. As two main prerequisites for this data digitalization process, the development of fatigue testing ontology and ckan ...

Sub-Millimeter-Scale Measurement of Local Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient Exceeding 100 W/(m^2-K) Using an Optical Pump-Probe Method [PDF]

open access: yesMeasurement, 249 (2025) 117001
Conventional methods for measuring the local convective heat transfer coefficient (h_c) often rely on simplifying assumptions that can compromise accuracy. Pump-probe methods like time-domain thermoreflectance (TDTR) avoid these assumptions but are limited to h_c values larger than 30 kW/(m^2-K) due to modulation frequency constraints.

Development and Validation of a One‐Dimensional Finite Difference Simulation Scheme for Polymer Laser Powder Bed Fusion with Application to the Effect of the Inter Layer Time

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents an efficient simulation approach for the polymer laser powder bed fusion process polymers process, validated with polyamide 12, polyamide 6, and polyetherketoneketone. It shows that inter layer time affects part density, with 90s yielding dense parts.

Heat Transfer between Graphene and Amorphous SiO2 [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
We study the heat transfer between graphene and amorphous SiO2. We include both the heat transfer from the area of real contact, and between the surfaces in the non-contact region. We consider the radiative heat transfer associated with the evanescent electromagnetic waves which exist outside of all bodies, and the heat transfer by the gas in the non ...

Smart Rubber Extrusion Line Combining Multiple Sensor Techniques for AI‐Based Process Control

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This publication presents a digitalization approach for a laboratory rubber extrusion line, employing innovative measurement methods and artificial intelligence (AI)‐based process control. The results demonstrate that the measurement systems are capable of detecting changes in the process and extrudate quality.
