The deterioration in heat transfer to fluids at super-critical pressure and high heat fluxes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Introduction: Several supercritical steam generators in the American Electric Power system have shown evidence of tube overheat in the lower furnance at the point where the water bulk temperature is about 670 0 F. The evidence is of two kinds.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The Effect of Nanofluid Concentration on the Cooling System of Vehicles Radiator

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2014
Experimental investigation on forced convection heat transfer is applied to vehicles’ radiator filled with AL 2 O 3 water nanofluid with different concentrations: 0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% by volume. The experiments are done for three cases, each case

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Monitoring and Heat Transfer Modelling of the Cure of Thermoset Composites Processed by Resin Transfer Moulding. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Experimental studies have demonstrated the existence of significant thermal gradients during the cure stage of Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM). Presence of such thermal gradients can affect the final degree-of-cure distribution and cause the development

Numerical Analysis of Deterioration in Heat Transfer to Supercritical Water.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series B, 1994
Deterioration in heat transfer to supercritical water is numerically studied using a k-e model. Physical properties are treated as variables and calculatd from the steam table library. The numerical result agrees with the experimental data of Yamagata et al. [Trans.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

ENHANCED BOILING HEAT TRANSFER ON SURFACES PATTERNED WITH MIXED WETTABILITY

open access: yes, 2018
Amongst an extensive collection of surface characteristics that could affect boiling performance, surface wettability (as measured by the contact angle with water) proves to play a unique role in potentially manipulating bubble behavior to the advantage ...
