Augmenting the Condenser Heat-Transfer Performance of Rotating Heat Pipes

AIAA Journal, 1978
A rotating heat pipe assembly was tested at rotational speeds of 700, 1400, and 2800 rpm using distilled water as the working fluid. Tests were made during film condensation on several copper condensers, including smoothwalled cylinders, an internally finned cylinder, and a truncated cone.

Influence of Irreversible Heat Transfer on Heat Engine-Driven Heat Pump Performance

Thermodynamics and the Design, Analysis, and Improvement of Energy Systems, 1995
Abstract The coupling of a heat engine with a conventional compression heat pump is considered. Classical thermodynamics would provide, as upper performance limit of such a system, the one achieved in the case in which Prime Mover and Heat Pump both operate according to a Carnot cycle. Finite-time thermodynamics, utilizing

Comparison of Heat Transfer Performance Between Smooth and Enhanced Heat Transfer Tubes

ASME 2019 6th International Conference on Micro/Nanoscale Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
Abstract Heat transfer enhancement is an important factor in obtaining energy efficiency improvements in all heat transfer applications. A numeric study was performed that compares the performance of heat exchangers using the Vipertex enhanced heat transfer tubes (model 1EHT) to the performance of heat exchangers that use smooth surface ...

Heat transfer performance of porous titanium

Journal of Iron and Steel Research International, 2017
Porous titanium fibre materials with different structural parameters were prepared by vacuum sintering method. The thickness, porosity and wire diameter of prepared materials were investigated to understand the effects of structural parameters on pool heat transmission performance of titanium fibre porous material.

Heat Transfer Performance of Radiator Heating System with Alternative Heat Transfer Fluids

2020
Heat transfer fluids (HTFs) are an essential heat transport medium in many wet heating and cooling systems. They carry Heat from the generation source to the place where it is being used. Therefore, HTFs should have the capability of carrying Heat efficiently. The ability of HTFs to carry out the maximum amount of Heat with minimum loss is dependent on

High-Performance Fins for Heat Transfer

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1942
Abstract Earlier investigations have determined the forced-convection heat transfer of a single isolated plane or cylinder and of continuous parallel fins. This paper presents test results for groups of small discontinuous fins and pins.

Heat Transfer Performance of Aluminum Foams

Journal of Heat Transfer, 2011
Because of their interesting heat transfer and mechanical properties, metal foams have been proposed for several different applications, thermal and structural. This paper aims at pointing out the effective thermal fluid dynamic behavior of these new enhanced surfaces, which present high heat transfer area per unit of volume at the expense of high ...

Nanoengineering Heat Transfer Performance at Carbon Nanotube Interfaces

ACS Nano, 2009
Carbon nanotubes are superb materials for nanoscale thermal management and phononic devices applications, due to their extremely high thermal conductivity (3000-6600 W/mK) and quasi-one-dimensional geometry. However, the presence of interfaces between individual carbon nanotubes as found widely in nanocomposites, nanoelectronics, and nanodevices ...

Study on Heat Transfer Performance of Skin Heat Exchanger

Experimental Heat Transfer, 2014
Cooling technology is facing new challenges with the increase of electronic equipment power onboard aircraft. The traditional heat sink based on high-altitude bleed air does not satisfy this increase of cooling demands. In this article, an air/air-type skin heat exchanger is studied for cooling aircraft electronic equipment.

Heat transfer performance in 3D internally finned heat pipe

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2007
Abstract An experimental study of heat transfer performance in 3D internally finned steel-water heat pipe was carried out in this project. All the main parameters that can significantly influence the heat transfer performance of heat pipe, such as working temperature, heat flux, inclination angle, working fluid fill ratio (defined by the evaporation ...
