Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

From Food to Power: Hydrogel Thermoelectrics for Ingestible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a fully edible thermoelectric–electrochromic platform that harvests heat from food and converts it into a visible color change. N‐type and p‐type hydrogel thermoelectric generators connected in series power anthocyanin‐based electrochromic displays, demonstrating the feasibility of safe, biodegradable, ingestible systems for on‐food ...

Heat Transport by Convection

The Physics of Fluids, 1960
The character of heat transport by cellular convection, which arises beyond the marginal state of stability in a layer of fluid bound between two constant temperature surfaces is examined. It is shown that a simple equation characterizes the heat transport in the neighborhood of the marginal state of stability when the convection is steady, and its ...

Active Transport and Heat

Asia Pacific Journal of Public Health, 2011
Increasing heat may impede peoples’ ability to be active outdoors thus limiting active transport options. Co-benefits from mitigation of and adaptation to global warming should not be assumed but need to be actively designed into strategies.

Poleward heat transport by the atmospheric heat engine

Nature, 2002
The atmospheric heat transport on Earth from the Equator to the poles is largely carried out by the mid-latitude storms. However, there is no satisfactory theory to describe this fundamental feature of the Earth's climate. Previous studies have characterized the poleward heat transport as a diffusion by eddies of specified horizontal length and ...

Heat of transport and heat capacity of transport of some aqueous electrolytes

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1988
The thermal diffusion of aqueous solutions of NaCl, KCl, MgCl2, BaCl2, MgSO4, and CuSO4 (0.05 m) contained in the pores of a sintered glass diaphragm has been studied. A cell is designed and fabricated for this purpose, and the resulting heat of transport values are compared with those available from the literature and obtained by using independent ...

Acoustically enhanced heat transport

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2016
We investigate the enhancement of heat transfer in the nucleate boiling regime by inducing high frequency acoustic waves (f ∼ 106 Hz) on the heated surface. In the experiments, liquid droplets (deionized water) are dispensed directly onto a heated, vibrating substrate.

Heat and Mass Transport

1975
As mentioned in Chapter 1 the equations governing heat transfer with small temperature differences also govern transfer of small concentrations of other passive scalar contaminants. Particle-laden flows (Chapter 7) are excluded unless the particles are so small that they move with the flow and are negligibly affected by gravity.

Heat of transport of air in clay

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2006
By measuring the thermomolecular pressure difference and using principles of irreversible thermodynamics, heat of transport of air in clay and its coefficient of diffusion are found. A comparison of thermotranspiration and pressure driven gas fluxes through concrete slab in homes is examined.

Estimating Heat-Transport and Time-Delays in a Heat Exchanger

2018 IEEE Conference on Control Technology and Applications (CCTA), 2018
Transport and heat exchange phenomena occuring in a heat exchanger can be modeled as first-order hyperbolic partial differential equations (PDEs). Reformulating these equations as a time-delay system preserves the infinite-dimensional property of the system, yet decreases its mathematical complexity.
