Molecular dynamics simulations of heat transport using machine-learned potentials: A mini-review and tutorial on GPUMD with neuroevolution potentials [PDF]
Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations play an important role in understanding and engineering heat transport properties of complex materials. An essential requirement for reliably predicting heat transport properties is the use of accurate and efficient ...

The observation of high hypotonicity manipulating cell division
We report a morphological manipulation of cell division which was achieved by changing the environment from isotonic to highly hypotonic. Cells at telophase were observed to undergo a morphological reversal to anaphase, with the contractile ring being ...

In this paper, we ask ourselves how non-local effects affect the description of thermodynamic systems with internal variables. Usually, one assumes that the internal variables are local, but that their evolution equations are non-local, i.e., for ...

Transition towards long-term sustainable energy systems is one of the biggest challenges faced by the global society. By 2050, not only greenhouse gas emissions have to be eliminated in all energy sectors: power, heat, transport and industry but also ...

Vibration-induced boundary-layer destabilization achieves massive heat-transport enhancement
We conceptualize an elegant mechanism of thermal vibrational turbulence that achieves massive heat-transport enhancement. Thermal turbulence is well known as a potent means to convey heat across space by a moving fluid.

Heat transport in mesoscopic systems [PDF]
Phonon heat transport in mesoscopic systems is investigated using methods analogous to the Landauer description of electrical conductance. A "universal heat conductance" expression that depends on the properties of the conducting pathway only through the mode cutoff frequencies is derived.

In the present work, a network model for the numerical resolution of the heat transport problem in porous media coupled with a water flow is presented. Starting from the governing equations, both for 1D and 2D geometries, an equivalent electrical circuit
