Molecular Chaperone Networks in Plants: Maintaining Proteostasis and Enhancing Stress Resilience for Crop Improvement

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Molecular chaperones play a central role in the plant proteostasis machinery by aiding the folding of nascent proteins, preventing aggregation, and repairing or degrading damaged proteins. These functions are especially essential during abiotic and biotic stress, which can destabilise cellular proteins and disrupt metabolic homoeostasis.

Trichomes in Plant Defence, Development and Metabolic Integration Under Environmental Stress

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Among various plant defence strategies, trichomes are tiny hair‐like structures on the epidermis that aid in defence, environmental adaptation and the production of valuable secondary metabolites. This review features trichomes as frontline guards for plant survival, integrating their structural, physiological and metabolic roles in ...

Oxidation of carotenoids by heat and tobacco smoke

BioFactors, 2004
AbstractThe stability to autoxidation of the polar carotenoids, lutein and zeaxanthin, was compared to that of the less polar carotenoids, β‐carotene and lycopene at physiologically or pathophysiologically relevant concentrations of 2 and 6 μM, after exposure to heat or cigarette smoke.

Heat-inducible hygromycin resistance in transgenic tobacco

Plant Molecular Biology, 1990
We have constructed a chimaeric gene consisting of the promoter of the soybean heat shock (hs) gene Gmhsp17, 6-L, the coding region of a hygromycin phosphotransferase (hpt) gene, and the termination sequence of the nopaline synthase (nos) gene. This gene fusion was introduced into tobacco by Agrobacterium-mediated gene transfer.

Heated tobacco product use and tobacco abstinence: A prospective cohort study

Addiction
Abstract Background and aims Heated tobacco products (HTPs) are increasingly used by individuals attempting to quit smoking, particularly in Japan where HTP use is prevalent; however, the effectiveness of HTPs in achieving complete tobacco abstinence remains unclear.
