Siekgebou-indroom - 'n krietiese oorsig

open access: yesClean Air Journal, 1991
Worldwide, indoor air pollution is causing great concern. Because is often the only visible air pollutant, tobacco smoke is invariably singled out as the culprit. However, detailed research has found that it plays an insignificant role and that the blame

Development of an AC-DC boost power factor correction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
With rapid development in power semiconductor devices, the usage of power electronic systems has expanded to new and wide application range that include residential, commercial, aerospace and many others. Power electronic interfaces such as switch mode

A novel design of a desiccant rotary wheel for passive ventilation applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Rotary desiccant wheels are used to regulate the relative humidity of airstreams. These are commonly integrated into Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning units to reduce the relative humidity of incoming ventilation air. To maximise the surface area,

Diversity of Pharmaceuticals Enhances Antibiotic Resistance in the Invertebrate Gut via Biofilm‐Mediated Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pharmaceutical diversity acts as an independent driver of antibiotic resistance in soil invertebrates. While bulk soil remains unaffected, the collembolan gut microbiome exhibits significant resistance gene enrichment under complex chemical exposure and diurnal warming.

Performance of an earth-air heat exchanger (EAHE) in a heat recovery ventilation for residential buildings in severe cold regions [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The prolonged duration of winter season and the occurrence of extreme low temperatures present significant challenges when implementing mechanical ventilation systems in severe cold regions. These challenges encompass substantial requirements for heating

Tracking of [14C]Polystyrene Nanoplastics in Pregnant Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates [14C]polystyrene nanoplastic ([14C]PS) translocation in late‐stage pregnant mice after intranasal (0.5 mg of [14C]PS on GD12, GD14, and GD16, n = 6) and intravenous administration (1.5 mg of [14C]PS on GD16, n = 6). 14C‐radiolabel allows quantitative tracking of unmodified polystyrene nanoplastics.

Field Measurements and Numerical Simulation for the Definition of the Thermal Stratification and Ventilation Performance in a Mechanically Ventilated Sports Hall

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
Sports halls must meet strict requirements for energy and indoor air quality (IAQ); therefore, there is a great challenge in the design of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems of such buildings.

Occupant behaviour in naturally ventilated and hybrid buildings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Adaptive thermal comfort criteria for building occupants are now becoming established. In this paper we illustrate their use in the prediction of occupant behaviour and make a comparison with a non-adaptive temperature threshold approach.

Bioinspired Hierarchical Architecture with Water Transport Channels for Strong Adhesion at the Sweating Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To address adhesion failure in sweaty epidermal electronics, this study proposes a cross‐species, multi‐scale biomimetic interface. By modeling staged wet adhesion, it integrates self‐regulating liquid bridges with directional drainage. This design ensures stable, high‐performance flexible sensing in complex physiological environments, offering a ...
