Prediction of heavy weight impact sound of large-spanned slabs

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1996
Adaptation of the large-spanned RC slabs, whose area corresponds to an apartment unit, is increasing in Japan. The authors measured heavy-weight impact sound and impedance of such large slabs at over 30 sites. The structural methods of slabs are: unbond, half-precast concrete, void, and the conventional framework method.

Subjective evaluation of heavy-weight floor impact sounds in relation to spatial characteristics

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009
This study investigated the effect of a spatial factor, the magnitude of interaural cross-correlation (IACC) function, on subjective responses to heavy-weight floor impact sounds. Heavy-weight impact sounds were generated by a heavy/soft impact source (impact ball) in real apartments, so that impact sound pressure levels (SPLs) (LAmax) and IACC could ...

Changes in heavy-weight impact sound isolation by construction stage in new residential buildings

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2023
In Korea, 63% of the population lives in residential buildings. Due to the prevalence of residential buildings, there are constant disputes and complaints related to floor impact sound. To address the floor impact sound problems, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT) announced strong legal regulations from 2022.

Dynamic properties of floating floor system and its influence on heavy-weight impact sound in residential buildings

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2021
We investigated the effects of a floating floor on heavy impact sound in the low-frequency range below 100 Hz with focus on the structural vibration. To verify the mechanism of amplifying the floor impact sound, field measurements were conducted before and after the installation of a floating floor while the other conditions were kept constant.

Investigation of damping materials for heavy-weight floor impact sounds in concrete structures.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009
Multi-layers of surface materials were investigated for the isolation of floor impact sounds in concrete structures. Both resilient and viscoelastic damping materials were tested according to the modified method of ANSI S2.22 for calculating elastic modulus and loss factor.

Study on Heavy Weight Impact Sound Insulation of CLT Floor Slab and Reduction Performance with Floor Structure

INTER-NOISE and NOISE-CON Congress and Conference Proceedings, 2023
Strategies and challenge for carbon neutrality by 2050 had become important issues all over the world. In South Korea, as a move toward carbon neutrality, interest in wooden buildings is growing continuously. In order to spread the wooden buildings, especially wooden multi-residential buildings, high floor impact sound insulation performance is ...

Effect of change in impact force on heavy-weight impact sound and impact characteristic of heavy∕soft impact sources

Noise Control Engineering Journal, 2011
JIS A 1418-2 standardized two heavy/soft impact sources, car-tire source and rubber ball source , for measurement of the heavy-weight floor impact sound. The rubber ball source is defined in ISO 140-11. The impact force and frequency characteristic differ between the car-tire source and the rubber ball source.

Relation between annoyance and single-number quantities for rating heavy-weight floor impact sound insulation in wooden houses

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2011
This study investigated the relation between annoyance and single-number quantities to rate heavy-weight floor impact sound insulation. Laboratory experiments were conducted to evaluate the subjective response of annoyance resulting from heavy-weight floor impact sounds recorded in wooden houses.
