Continuum Robots in Surgery: From Engineering Design to Clinical Practice

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
The hyper‐redundant nature of continuum robot structures enables near‐infinite degrees of freedom leading to immense potential for medical applications. This review provides a historical background of continuum robots and novel ideas shaping their progress to current structural design, sensing technology, modeling techniques, and control methods.

Ultrasound‐Responsive Piezoelectric Fibrous Membrane Promotes Neurological Recovery After TBI by Modulating Microglial Polarization via Restoring Mitochondrial Dynamic Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a novel therapy for traumatic brain injury TBI using a LIPUS‐responsive Piezoelectric fibrous membrane. It targets microglial mitochondria via in situ electrical signals, restoring homeostasis and reducing oxidative stress to promote an anti‐inflammatory M2 phenotype.

Evaluation of the Dynamic Stiffness and Heavy-weight Floor Impact Sound Reduction by Composition of Resilient Materials [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the Korean Society for Noise and Vibration Engineering, 2008
Resilient materials are generally used for the floating floors to reduce the floor impact sound. Dynamic stiffness of resilient material, which has the most to do with the floor impact sound reduction. The resilient materials available in Korea include EPS(styrofoam), recycled urethane types, EVA(ethylene vinylacetate) foam rubber, foam PE(polyethylene)

Neuromorphic Near‐Sensor and In‐Sensor Computing Enabled by Next‐Generation Material‐Based Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This Review presents a structural framework that classifies neuromorphic sensing into near‐sensor and in‐sensor architectures, clarifying physical coupling between sensing and computation. The framework connects neural and synaptic device functions with recent advances in optical, mechanical, and chemical sensing, compares energy consumption and ...

Stabilized Cubic GeTe With Matched Grain‐Boundary Networks and Band Convergence for High‐Performance Dual‐Mode Thermoelectric Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
I‐doping stabilizes the cubic phase of GeTe and generates “electron‐transparent, phonon‐blocking” grain boundary networks while inducing valence‐band convergence. This synergistic structural‐electronic design enables effective electron‐phonon decoupling, achieving an exceptional average zTave of ∼1.62, a peak zT of ∼2.2, and enhanced mechanical ...

Unveiling the Ultralow Thermal Conductivity of Hybrid Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In hybrid perovskites, thermal energy flows through lattice vibrations of the framework (48%–65%) and organic molecules (35%–52%). When the disorder introduced by organic molecules is excluded, the temperature dependence of the vibrational thermal conductivity results from the lattice framework transits from ∼T0 to ∼T−1, and the value doubles at room ...
