Preparation of Fe-Mn-Ce-SA adsorbent and Pb2+ removal from aqueous solutions

open access: yesXi'an Gongcheng Daxue xuebao, 2021
In order to obtain high performance adsorbent for removing heavy metal lead ions (Pb2+), a new granular adsorbent (Fe-Mn-Ce-SA gel beads) was prepared by coprecipitation and gel method using sodium alginate as skeleton structure.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Entropy‐Driven Design of Low‐Melting‐Point Alloys via Compositionally Complex Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Conventional low‐melting‐point alloys (LMPAs) are limited by a narrow compositional space and inherent property trade‐offs. This review presents an entropy‐driven design strategy that overcomes these limitations, ushering in a new class of low‐melting‐point compositionally complex alloys (LMCCAs).

A study of molybdenum addition on W-Ni-Fe based heavy alloys sintered with spark plasma sintering [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Sciences, 2019
Tungsten heavy alloys comprising tungsten, nickel and ferrous were modified, where molybdenum was added in varying weight proportions keeping the ratio of Ni: Fe (8:2) constant.

Mean-field analysis for heavy ball methods: Dropout-stability, connectivity, and global convergence

open access: yesCoRR, 2022
The stochastic heavy ball method (SHB), also known as stochastic gradient descent (SGD) with Polyak's momentum, is widely used in training neural networks. However, despite the remarkable success of such algorithm in practice, its theoretical characterization remains limited.

Heavy quark physics on the lattice with improved nonrelativistic actions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Hadrons containing heavy quarks, in particular b quarks, play an important role in high energy physics. Measurements of their electroweak interactions are used to test the Standard Model and search for new physics.

Parametric impact characterisation of a solid sports ball, WITH a view to developing a standard core for the GAA Sliotar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The main aim of this research was to characterise the dynamic impact behaviour of the sliotar core. Viscoelastic characterisation of the balls was conducted for a range of impact speeds.

Toward Varying Bipedal Walking Gaits Using Rolling Ball-Tray Dynamics at the Walker’s Core

open access: yesIEEE Access
Actuated compass-gait walking machines have the potential to navigate areas with gentle slopes using very little energy, but a technological solution for applying a torque that will drive its natural gait is still proving elusive.
