Reflection of heavy ions

Zeitschrift für Physik B Condensed Matter, 1986
The backscattering of heavy ions from surfaces is investigated by computer simulation (TRIM.SP). The particle and energy reflection coefficients are shown to scale with the ratio of target mass to ion mass as well as with the reduced energy e for e>0.02 and for normal incidence.

Relativistic heavy ions

Nuclear Physics A, 1982
Abstract The following topics are discussed : production of very neutron-rich nuclei; evidence for projectile fragments with short mean free path; generation of entropy; results of interferometry and multiplicity selected experiments; finally the crucial need for measuring and calculating global variables.

Heavy-ion physics

Il Nuovo Cimento B, 2008
Ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions have been used since the early nineties as a tool to create in the laboratory an environment with energy density and temperature close to those existing in Nature immediately after the Big Bang. The aim is to produce and study nuclear matter in which quarks and gluons are no longer bound in hadrons.

Heavy ion reactions

Contemporary Physics, 1980
Abstract The reactions that take place when two nuclei collide are reviewed, together with the information they provide on nuclear structure.

Processes with heavy ion collisions

Physics of Particles and Nuclei, 2011
Some Coulomb effects in heavy ion collisions are considered. Among them the process of muon and lepton pair creation, Coulomb and unitary corrections, statistics of multiple pair production. Effects of mul- tiple photon exchange in process of lepton pair production by linearly polarized photon on nuclei are consid- ered.
