Modelling the Concentration and Deposition of Heavy Metals in the UK

2014
A relatively simple Lagrangian atmospheric transport model (FRAME) was adapted to simulate the concentration and deposition of nine heavy metals (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Ni, Se, V and Zn) in the UK. The modelled data was compared with annually averaged measured wet deposition of metals and concentrations in air.

Equipment for heavy-metal deposition and salt dewatering

Metallurgist, 2007
The composition of waste water and the requirements established for the methods used to purify it serve as the starting point in any design of water treatment facilities. As an example, the author proposes the use of a unit whose stationary drum is supplied with pre-dried sediment.

Deposition of Heavy Metals and Their Distribution on Needles and Bark

1988
Three compartments of a tree: the surface layer on leaves or needles, the inner part of them, and the corresponding segments of the bark were investigated for the contents of some elements by XRFA (S, K, Ca, Ti, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Br, Sr, Rb, Pb) and by INAA (Fe, Zn, Cr, Sb, Se, Co).

Heavy Metal Atmospheric Deposition Study in Moscow Region, Russia

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2019
The air quality in north-eastern part of Moscow region was evaluated by trace metals atmospheric deposition using moss Pleurozium schreberi as bioindicator. Thirty six elements were determined in analyzed samples by Neutron activation analysis and Atomic absorption spectrometry.

Effects of heavy metal deposition on soil fertility

2000
Bulk deposition was collected in the vicinity of the Harjavalta smelter from 1993 to 1996 in open areas close to the Scots pine study stands using 5 rainfall collectors (O = 20 cm) during the snowfree period or 2 snow collectors (O = 36 cm) during the winter. Stand throughfall was collected using 20 rainfall collectors located systematically on the 30 ×

Concentrations of Heavy Metals in the Upper Volga Bottom Deposits

Water Resources, 2001
The distribution of heavy metals in the Volga bottom deposits is studied. According to the degree of pollution with heavy metals, three stretches are singled out within the river reach under consideration. A drastic increase in Cu and Cd concentrations in bottom deposits is established. A close statistical correlation between Cu and Pb accumulation and

The use of mires in monitoring the atmospheric deposition of heavy metals

Aquatic Botany, 1986
Bogs are ombrotrophic mire ecosystems receiving all chemical inputs from atmospheric deposition. Thus living vegetation in bogs such as Sphagnum moss and peat derived from the vegetation can be analyzed for metals in order to monitor atmospheric deposition.

A European survey of atmospheric heavy metal deposition in 2000–2001

Environmental Pollution, 2002
The background, administration and current status of the monitoring programme "European Survey of Atmospheric Heavy Metal Deposition" is described. All European states are invited to join the survey 2000-2001. The co-ordination and responsibility for the survey will gradually be transferred from the Nordic Council of Ministers to the International ...

Heavy metals in the finest size fractions of road-deposited sediments

Environmental Pollution, 2018
The concentration of heavy metals in urban road-deposited sediments (RDS) can be used as an indicator for environmental pollution. Thus, their occurrence has been studied in whole road dust samples as well as in size fractions obtained by sieving. Because of the limitations of size separation by sieving little information is available about heavy metal

Heavy metal budgets in two forested catchments with heavy atmospheric deposition pollution in China

Science of The Total Environment
To investigate heavy metals (HMs) migration in forests with decreasing atmospheric HM deposition in China, the zinc (Zn), lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) fluxes through hydrological pathways were observed in a coniferous forest at Tieshanping (TSP) near Chongqing, a mega city in Southwest China, and a broad-leaved forest at Gaozhuang village (GZV) near ...
