Autonomous X‐Ray Fluorescence Mapping for Nanoscale Chemical Speciation of Fine Particulate Matter

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We present X‐AutoMap, an autonomous X‐ray fluorescence mapping framework that integrates real‐time analysis with rule‐based computer vision to selectively target chemically relevant regions. By avoiding background‐dominated areas, the method reduces acquisition time by fourfold while enabling accurate particle‐level speciation.

Natural Aging of Biomaterials in Ambient and Physiological Environments

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Biomaterials used in biomedical applications can change their physical properties over time, even under ambient and physiological conditions. This review highlights key studies on the natural aging of materials ranging from soft hydrogels to metals and ceramics, emphasizing how time‐dependent changes influence function and performance.

(Table 1) Percentage of non-opaque heavy minerals, heavy residue, magnetite, and opaque heavy minerals, DSDP Sites 58-445 and 58-446

open access: yes, 1980
Heavy-mineral analyses were made for 39 samples, 27 from DSDP Site 445 and 12 from Site 446. About one-fourth of the samples were so loose that they were easily disaggregated in water.

Injectable Bone Cements: A Generational Framework for Bioactivity, Porosity, and Mechanobiological Design at the Nanoscale

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Key demographic, biological, and material considerations that drive the need for advanced injectable bone cement technologies. Injectable bone cements (IBCs) are widely used in orthopaedic and craniofacial applications due to their minimally invasive delivery and ability to provide early mechanical stabilisation.

The transfer of heavy metals through trophic levels and their toxicity effects on organisms including humans

open access: yes, 2007
This research has investigated a number of topics pertaining to the effects of metalliferous mining. The combination of these has shown that past mining activities and their resultant waste have led to the accumulation of metals through trophic levels ...
