Running economy and lower‐limb anthropometry in adult male Kenyan and Danish middle‐ and long‐distance runners and in untrained adolescents

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 4, Page 1919-1932, 1 April 2026.
Abstract Kenyan athletes have dominated competitive middle‐ and long‐distance running for more than half a century, a phenomenon suggested to be attributable, at least in part, to superior running economy. Given that lower‐leg anthropometry is an important determinant of running economy, a key contributor to the athletic performance of Kenyan runners ...

Endpoint relations for baryons

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
Following our earlier work we establish kinematic endpoint relations for baryon decays using the Wigner-Eckart theorem and apply them to 1 2 → 1 2 $$ \frac{1}{2}\to \frac{1}{2} $$ and 1 2 → 3 2 $$ \frac{1}{2}\to \frac{3}{2} $$ baryon transitions.

Cardiopulmonary function in special operations forces compared to conventional infantry soldiers

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 4, Page 1626-1635, 1 April 2026.
Abstract Fitness is essential to military personnel in general, especially in the special operations forces (SOF), where the demanding tasks require a high level of physical fitness and mental robustness. However, little research has been done on SOF to characterise the putative underlying cardiopulmonary adaptations that distinguish them from ...

Heavy-quark thresholds in Higgs-boson physics [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 1990
We perform a comprehensive study of the effects related to a heavy-quark threshold in the production and decay of a scalar or pseudoscalar Higgs particle. We study the QCD corrections to the decay mode into a quark-antiquark pair and also the mixing of a Higgs boson with quarkonium states, both below and above the open-flavor threshold, which can ...

The heavy quark expansion for inclusive semileptonic charm decays revisited [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
The Heavy Quark Expansion (HQE) has become an extremely powerful tool in flavor physics. For charm decays, where the expansion parameters αs(mc) and ΛQCD/mc are bigger than for bottom decays, it remains to be seen if the HQE can be applied with similar ...

Semileptonic $$s\rightarrow u$$ s → u decays of singly heavy baryons

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
$$s\rightarrow u$$ s → u weak decays of heavy flavor hadrons play a unique role in the field of heavy flavor physics. In this work, we investigate semileptonic $$s\rightarrow u$$ s → u decays of singly heavy baryons in the light-front approach under the ...

Parity doubling as a tool for right-handed current searches

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
The V-A structure of the weak interactions leads to definite amplitude hierarchies in exclusive heavy-to-light decays mediated by b → (d, s)γ and b→d,sℓℓ¯ $$ b\to \left(d,\ s\right)\ell \overline{\ell} $$. However, the extraction of right-handed currents

Sex and performance‐level differences in aerobic and haematological parameters among elite ski mountaineering athletes

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 4, Page 1988-2001, 1 April 2026.
Abstract Ski mountaineering (SkiMo) is a new Olympic sport with extreme endurance demands and altitude exposure. Previous studies have focused on traditional cardiorespiratory variables, such as maximal oxygen consumption (V̇O2max${\dot V_{{{\mathrm{O}}_{\mathrm{2}}}{\mathrm{max}}}}$) or ventilatory thresholds, but, to our knowledge, did not report ...

On the non-perturbative gluon mass and heavy quark physics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We study a recently proposed gauge invariant, non-local pure gauge observable, which is equivalent to the gluon propagator in a certain gauge. The correlator describes a gluon coupled to static sources and decays with eigenvalues of the Hamiltonian ...
