COMPLICATIONS AFTER HEAVY SILICONE OIL TAMPONADE IN COMPLICATED RETINAL DETACHMENT

Retina, 2011
To observe the complications after heavy silicone oil (HSO) tamponade in complicated retinal detachment.Thirty-three eyes of 33 patients with complicated retinal detachment were included in this retrospective study. Vitrectomy and HSO tamponade were performed in all patients. Other surgical procedures were performed as necessary.

Transient Macular Thinning during the Use of Heavy Silicone Oil, Densiron 68

Current Eye Research, 2020
To evaluate the effect of short-term Densiron tamponade on macular thickness.Retrospective case series. Data were collected from charts of patients who received short-term (less than 90 days) Densiron tamponade. The OCT parameters were compared between Densiron in situ and after Densiron removal and to the fellow eye.Twenty eyes were included in the ...

1000 cSt silicone oil vs heavy silicone oil as intraocular tamponade in retinal detachment associated to myopic macular hole

Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 2010
Several surgical techniques have been described for the treatment of retinal detachment (RD) associated to myopic macular hole (MMH). In this retrospective study, the anatomical and functional outcomes of pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with long-term tamponade, using either 1000 cSt silicone oil (SO) or heavy silicone oil (HSO), are compared.Forty-two ...

[Advantages and disadvantages of heavy silicone oil].

Der Ophthalmologe : Zeitschrift der Deutschen Ophthalmologischen Gesellschaft, 2010
Heavy silicone oil does not have any evidence-based advantages or disadvantages over conventional silicone oil. It is up to the surgeon to choose the type of tamponade considered to be most suitable for the individual eye. Suitable indications for heavy silicone oil are, for example proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) and risk of PVR in the lower ...
