Influence of translational vehicle dynamics on heavy vehicle noise emission
Science of The Total Environment, 2019Vehicle dynamics can play a significant role in the noise emission from heavy vehicles. In this work, a heavy vehicle noise emission model is presented to study the influence of translational vehicle dynamics on the sound power level emitted by heavy-duty trucks.

<div class="htmlview paragraph">A heavy high-speed vehicle, such as a modern motor-coach, combines weight and speed, requires frequent brake-applications and necessitates the dissipation of an increased quantity of heat. As it weighs about four times as much as a passenger car approximately four times the braking-effort is required; consequently ...

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1975
Abstract Data are given of noise spectra obtained in the cabs of new, and in-service, heavy goods vehicles having gross vehicle weights up to 40 tons. Comparisons are made between dB(A) and linear sound pressure levels under motorway conditions at 30, 40 and 50 mile/h.

HEAVY VEHICLE VIBRATION - A CASE STUDY
Vehicle System Dynamics, 1985SUMMARY A method is presented for the digital simulation of multiple degrees-of-freedom lumped parameter vibrating systems with arbitrary constitutive elements in an inertial frame of reference. The geometry of the system is treated independently of the constitutive elements and as a result nonlinear (time domain) or linearised (frequency domain ...

Simulation of Heavy Vehicle Dynamics
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1990<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper gives a history of simulation of commercial vehicles, starting with the early models and progressing to today's multibody models. This is followed by a discussion of the key questions faced by simulators. Finally, the paper presents a new method to postprocess results through videoanimation.</div>

Stability control of heavy vehicles
2017In this chapter the design of active steering assistance systems for heavy vehicles is discussed. These kinds of systems are oriented to avoid the rollover and prevent lane departure of the vehicle. The methodology herein illustrated is based on the super-twisting algorithm. An estimator relying on high order sliding mode observer is developed in order

Taxonomy of heavy vehicle accidents
International Journal of Crashworthiness, 1998Abstract A Taxonomic analysis is performed on Heavy Vehicle accidents recorded in the Statistical Reports of the New South Wales (NSW) Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) during the period 31st December 1991 to 1995. The heavy vehicle group is made up of three distinct vehicle types; - Heavy Rigid, Articulated and Budcoach This paper demonstrates the ...
