Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Improvement in Enrichment of Heavy Water from Water-Isotopes Mixture in Flat-Plate Thermal-Diffusion Columns with Optimal Plate Spacing [PDF]
The optimun plate spacings for maximum separation, maximum production rate and minimum column length in a flat-plate thermal diffusion column for the improvement in separation of heavy water (D2O) from water isotopes mixture (H2O-HDO-D2O) have been ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Bacteria in heavy metal contaminated soil: diversity, tolerance and use in remediation [PDF]
The objectives of this project were to determine the bacterial diversity in a heavily contaminated metal region of Portugal. Both traditional and molecular based methods were used to identify tolerant strains and species. The most tolerant species were

Behaviour of heavy metals in soils
Fractions of Zn, Cd, Cu, Pb, Fe and Mn extractable with water, a salt solution and dilute acid, and residual fractions were determined in soils with raised contents of heavy metals, near zinc smelters, along a river formerly discharging heavy metals, and

Effect of heavy metal stress in plant metabolism of solanaceous plant species with emphasis on nitrogen assimilation [PDF]
Several plant species are able to accumulate and withstand large quantities of heavy metals in their tissues without dramatic alterations in their growth usually observed in plants. Such metal accumulating plants are tested and used for remediation of
