Application of the HEC-HMS model for runoff simulation in a tropical catchment

Environmental Modelling and Software, 2013
Hydrologic simulation employing computer models has advanced rapidly and computerized models have become essential tools for understanding human influences on river flows and designing ecologically sustainable water management approaches. The HEC-HMS is a reliable model developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers that could be used for many ...

Event and Continuous Hydrologic Modeling with HEC-HMS

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 2009
Event hydrologic modeling reveals how a basin responds to an individual rainfall event (e.g., quantity of surface runoff, peak, timing of the peak, detention). In contrast, continuous hydrologic modeling synthesizes hydrologic processes and phenomena (i.e., synthetic responses of the basin to a number of rain events and their cumulative effects) over a

Hydrological Modeling of the Cambamba Watershed in Angola Using the HEC-HMS Model

Modern Environmental Science and Engineering, 2022
When evaluating the impact of climate change on water resources in river basins it is crucial to accurately estimate the availability of water and such can be attained through hydrological modeling of the basin. The studies of the Hydrological Modeling System (HEC-HMS) for the Cambamba River Basin in Angola has been calibrated and validated for the ...

Rainfall-Runoff Modelling for Kenyir Watershed using HEC-HMS Hydrologic Model

4th International Conference on Architectural & Civil Engineering Sciences, 2023
Dam failure due to extreme runoff events can cause major impact to human lives and property. In order to protect the life and property downstream of Kenyir catchment in Malaysia, this research aimed to estimate Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) using the Hydrological Model HEC-HMS version 4.8 accompanied with the Geographic Information System (ArcGIS).

Rainfall-Runoff Modeling By HEC-HMS Model For The Kunhar River Basin

Iraqi Journal of Civil Engineering
One main natural hazard resulting from interactions between rainfall-runoff is flooding. Extreme precipitation causes surface water flow to rise, hence breaking river systems and causing flooding. This work models and forecasts flood dynamics in the Kunhar River basin with the Hydrologic Engineering Centre's Hydrologic Modelling System (HEC-HMS).
